Ok, the social scientist in me is intrigued.  I wonder how the desire for and belief that we should pursue an OCS soon breaks down demographically - specifically age and SES.

Why didn’t anyone tell Pitt, Miami, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, South Carolina, NC State, Baylor and Northwestern that they couldn’t be in the P5 sans an OCS?

Completely agree with the points you made in this thread but Washington has one of the prettiest OCS settings in the country, right on Lake Washington. The played in Seahwak Stadium for a year while they spent $280 million to renovate, the original Husky Stadium structure was the original bounce house.

UCLA playing an hour from campus, can be more pending traffic, always cracks me up when people bring up the "RayJay is too far from campus" argument.

This.  Students seem to be able to find their way to Ybor which is a bit further.

Look how agonizingly slow the IPF project has been going. There is actually a real need for this complex yet the funding/priority seems very slow to go. Maybe 2020? or...?  USF is actually behind the pack on this issue. An IPF is seen as a real asset to a large percentage of major universities. Yeah Yeah, it's sunny Florida and you can run and play all day long...sure you can. Vision for a OCS? Pretty foggy I would guess but the rendering looked pretty even stimulated hopes and conversation..still does.  Prob should have put that $$ towards the IPF.

If Vernon Wormer had been our President years ago we would already have a stadium and IPF. He knew how to get the $...case in point: https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/fbdef10f-2105-4e15-8f54-05dc9ee289fd

Seattle in itself is beautiful and Lake Washington is a marginally better view than Mons, 2001 and anything within 15 miles of campus.

Interesting thread.   Someone please explain how UofH and Tulane (of all schools) can build a new OCS whilst in the AAC...  and USF can't?    Reliant Stadium, where the Texans play, is a few miles from UofH.  And (not that it matters), but the color scheme actually works for UofH.   Yet they were able to work up funding and get an awesome ocs built.    I'm in Texas and I catch a game there every year.

I am actually in the crowd that is fine paying in the Bucs stadium...   we won't be able to build something nicer, so why not use it?   But, since so many seem to think an OCS is almost a requirement for 'moving up', I don't see why we can't do it...

I think it all relates to general support for USF.  When we were losing, we didn't draw fans.  They said that winning would cure it.  For the last two seasons we have been winning, and we still draw flies.   Why should we build an OCS for THAT kind of fanbase?   I think that's our number one problem. Culture.

remember: everything is bigger in Texas$$ I imagine that relates to wallets too. Tulane? It's NO there is $$ everywhere some a bit dingy but..it's money plus, there the NO city team and been there forever. I get the feeling that UHouston folks have their eye on bigger and better things like a P5 slide in. They are popular with the sporting news networks now the high profile coach. USF?? we hopefully are getting past being the new kids on the block. We don't have a history of staying power or consistency kinda like a roller coaster ride hopefully, all that is changing currently. If the new Prez gets on board with athletics along with MK maybe we will kick it into gear/// hopefully.

Remember the old saying...USF IPF before OCS no BS

Pretty simple. The owner of Serta gave $15 million, the owner of the Saints gave $7.5 million, and the owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave somewhere in the $5 million range. So...$25-$30 million of the $75 million cost in one swoop. That's how.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
