I think there is no one that wouldn't want a OCS if it could miracle its way into our lives but in the reality in which we live it is reasonable to question if it would be wise to gamble a small fortune and perhaps our University's future on something that wouldn't work for us if we get called up to the P5 and we may not have a need for long before it is paid off if we do not get called up to the P5. As for the return on investment for stadium ownership its not one or two articles its universal consensus from every study, article or just plain looking around that owning a stadium from a fiscal standpoint is entirely stupid and to be avoided at all costs, that is why every argument appeals to emotion and not ROI.

Image result for if it dont make dollars it don't make sense

Or if people don't believe studies, we pose this question:

If owning a stadium was profitable why do all the major league sports teams that actually make a lot of money own their own stadiums?

Maybe St. Pete will lease us Tropicana Field for $1 a year when the Rays move to Montreal and give us the concessions/parking money for all events held there.

I think we can take that tin-can down piece by piece and reinstall it on campus.

I post this often.

It pretty much sums up the nuts and bolts of an OCS, why some schools have it, why some don't, why pro sports teams don't own them.

The majority of schools were built along with their stadiums when building a stadium cost roughly $12. Also the majority of universities are land grant universities in the middle of nowhere that have no other opinions for a stadium than building their own. When it comes to urban universities that have an option of not building a stadium on their own dime the numbers are far more mixed. Finally most universities have big donors and if your boosters want to waste their money they weren’t going to donate anyway on building a stadium it’s maybe not the worst idea. We don’t have these donors and building an ipf for a fraction of the price is taking us roughly 20 years. To build a stadium is to mortgage our university’s future and anyone thinking with their minds over their hearts is aware of this fact. I love to complain about Ray Jay and our administration not building an OCS but if anyone in power seriously considered building one in this environment they are incompetent and should be fired immediately.

U of Houston stadium in 2014 was 125 million and over a hundred million was transferred from academics to fund this, we could never have done this under Genshaft.

We could never do this under state law.

Even if we could take money from academics and transfer it to build a stadium I’d hope most people would be against it.

I'd hope so. But the bread and circuses crowd seems to rule the world.
