News: The Bulls Pen and Pye Road Meadworks
By Brad Meyer | Published 09/12/2022 | USF Bulls Football

Odessa, FL - You may be contemplating plans for this weekend's game at Florida.  It's scheduled for a 7:30 kickoff at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium where the Bulls lost to the Gators 42-30 last season.

If you are traveling to the game, there are a couple of on-site tailgates forming involving a couple members here @MSBulls and @FazaUSF.  you can find that information int he board thread here:

One lot is an RV lot with some Bulls RVs rolling in.  The other lot is closer to the stadium but has room for parking and canopies.  There certainly is an opportunity to meet a lot of Bulls fans in both lots.  You can reach out to both parties to learn more.

For those staying local and looking for a watch party, The Bulls Pen endorses and supports Pye Road Meadworks, owned by long time board member @Pye Road Meadworks.   His given name at birth (or soon thereafter) is Matt McDonough.  Matt and his wife Debbie are the proud owners of Pye Road.

I met Matt long ago here on the board, dating back to at least as far as 2005 when Matt and Debbie displayed this sign at the first USF Bulls Football bowl game hosted in Charlotte, NC.

Matt also was a writer for the original site, SouthFloridaBulls.com and covered USF Football games with unique in-game visits to fans throughout Raymond James.  He also helped put together road game fan gatherings and watch parties in past seasons.

Matt is a USF Alumnus and recently poured his mead at the Tampa Alumni Association Bulls Block Party.

Pye Road officially opened in 2021 after years of planning and perfecting their craft - honey wines, sparkling session meads and assembling a top-notch selection of craft beers.

Not everyone is familiar with meads, so I'll share this from the Pye Road website: Mead is - at its core - fermented honey mixed with water and yeast, but that simple description doesn't scratch the surface of what mead is today!  Today's mead can be dry, sweet, fruity, spiced, carbonated...like draught beer, the possibilities are endless.

Pye Road is on Untappd and recently was declared the 12th ranked meadery in the world!

Their mead is a must try and being there is an opportunity to be among Bulls fans for the Bulls at Gators on Saturday.  Please do me a favor and consider going to Pye Road and supporting this Bulls business.  Matt and I plan to co-promote and co-sponsor as much as we can to raise the awareness of the Bulls and offer Bulls fans places to meet, drink and discuss USF Sports.

Pye Road is located at 8533 Gunn Highway, Odessa, FL  33556, Phone is (813) 510-3500

The Bulls Pen in the South Lot (lot 9 I believe)
All:

I have some fun Bullspen swag that Brad/BDYZR (BDYZR is Bud-weis-er and is super creative and I feel very dumb for not figuring it out earlier but thanks!) provided and I will have available at Rocky's Hideaway. We have pens and coasters and stickers...its very exciting! Rocky's Hideaway is pictured below and has 2 super tall flag poles, we park on the south side of the stadium in Lot 9...or 6 or 7. Honestly not sure...it's the Dale Mabry side of the stadium lot on the south side. Can't miss it! I am getting Bullspen flags made but they are not here yet! Please come by and check out the swap!

The Bulls Pen Celebrates 23 Years
By Brad Meyer | Published 08/31/2022 | USF Fans Site News

Today marks the beginning of the 24th season of TheBullsPen.com.  It's amazing to me, so I write this post.

We started up with "TheBullsPen" being the message board for the SouthFloridaBulls.com site.  The site's beginning in 1999 was launched just before the Bulls first game of their third season.

SFB was a blast, I started it when I lived in Tampa and could attend USF press conferences, media days, games and host watch parties.  As I moved out west, it became harder to maintain but the message board was booming - and so were the Bulls!  So around 2008, SFB became DOA and The Bulls Pen emerged as it's own entity.

There have been thousands of fans that have come through the login of The Bulls Pen.  Several fans are still engaged, an entire generation later (note: my kids are 24 and 22, TBP became the middle child).  Others have moved on to create other Bulls  sites or simply disconnected from the site and/or the Bulls.  There was a real shakeout in 2010 with the termination of Jim Leavitt that rocked the program and our membership.

Still, through the bad times as well as the good times, The Bulls Pen survived and continued in its goal to find, invite and engage other Bulls fans into our online community and build fan support for the Bulls year round.

I'm very thankful for our robust membership and that the site still plays a role in growing the fan base and facilitating discussion.

The members here have been terrific over time, frequently lending their time and money to building the site, supporting the Bulls or even sending students to away games.  Recent membership involvement has seen the site host the Bulls Block Party again, contribute to the IPF and establish a NIL fund for USF student-athletes among other things.

When The Bulls Pen was too big to remain on a web hosting account, we moved it to a member's server.  In 2007, when that server took a beating we had to upgrade further.  Today we are hosted in a spot that allows for unlimited growth.  Now it's just up to us to grow!

Thank you all for being members of The Bulls Pen.  It means a lot to see names familiar to me from the days of the Carraba's watch parties or the new names popping up weekly of new fans to our board that want to talk some Bull.

A toast to The Bulls Pen and it's members!

Board Announcement - Welcome Antonio Grier, Jr.
Hello The Bulls Pen Community,

I am extremely excited to inform that one of our first TBP Athletes, Antonio Grier, Jr. has joined our community.

I'd also like to thank the community that contributed to our effort to assist our players with NIL opportunities.

Antonio will be a member and support our community on other platforms and perhaps help us grow with new members.  He will also have a club on site for additional NIL.    There will be much more discussion on this in the next few days, but first I want to share the news and ask you to join me in welcoming Antonio Grier, Jr. to our community!
