True. I just mean a question mark for now. The defense went from unwatchable soul killing zone to actually exciting to watch and get up for. That made a big difference in the crowd energy this year.

I would love him to stay, but SEC equipment managers make more than Allen does here. If they want him, he's gone.

I'll say this much.

Allen was a position's coach in the SEC and then became our defensive coordinator for one year. He did great here; he earned his money. But he wasn't exactly a superstar coach. I mean Maryland and WKU come to mind. Yeah, I blame the players, but it was his defense.

Turning to Auburn, they are the big spenders in college football. I bet if they could have spent 50 million dollars to save that one poisoned tree, they would have...

They took Muskrat when he was just fired from UFools to become their coordinator and paid him 1.6 mill... That's a really big move. What did they get for it? Yeah...

In my mind, until I see the headlines, I think Allen is a small fish in their eyes. Additionally, I think Maryland and WKU will put doubts in their minds. They will feel like fools if he doesn't pan out for them.

My money is on Allen doesn't go to Auburn.

I don't think we'll hear anything until after their game with Memphis. Not sure they would want to add that distraction to the mix before a big game.

He needs more experience and Im not gonna lose any sleep if he gets hired away.  Without an outstanding dline which he had this year his defense isnt all that great.   Players matter more than scheme.

Perhaps we can convince Wally Burnham to un-retire (I think) for us if Allen leaves.

Otherwise, we'll find someone, as long as we don't run a 3-4.

I like the idea, but I think that Shannon is biding his time for another head coaching job. Some SEC position coaches get paid more than some defensive coordinators in our conference. I'm sure if Willie can make the money right, Shannon could be swayed to come over for a cup of coffee.
