Look. I like the idea of Higgins. I'm an alum of Jesuit and USF so I see the logic with this choice. My only concern is big time college athletics is becoming more and more like some secret fraternity and if USF doesn't have any connections on the inside no matter how good of a salesman you are it falls on deaf ears.

For all I know Higgins is connected on the inside from his work at TBSC and if that's the case I'll support him 100%.

Whatever happens I jut hope they get it right. We can't afford a bad decision.

Go Bulls!!!

Higgins headed the team that secured the NCAA Football championship game for Tampa.... I think he's got some up high NCAA connections.

Lets hope Judy and the powers to be, DONT pick Angelos (FAU) guy recently hired by Doug as Senior Asst. This would be ANOTHER  bad hire  in recent years( Doug, Skip, Heath(if BB gets hit with NCAA or we don't start winning asap), possibly Taggart if he doesn't fix this "Bus"   and Angelos  who FAU didn't even want).

If Judy hires someone who fails or is not up to par than Judy's job needs to be looked at.

We need a Jurich Type hire to fix this mess we call USF Athletics. Someone with a Proven Track record, Not some unknown or up and coming guy.

V5 came out and said, they would be "shocked" if it were an internal hire (ie Angelos).  I'm sure Judy knows about him, but if that's the hire, I believe there will be a a lot of pissed off people.  That said, I believe Collin's intuition that it's not going to be Angelos.

Why don't we sell naming rights for the new AD?

Make a couple mil and probably do just as good as Judy did last time.

So, we tried to hire a guy with legal problems and settled on DW...

In 2004, Woolard was among four finalists to replace former athletic director Lee Roy Selmon. The others candidates were current Virginia senior associate AD Jon Oliver, current Michigan State AD Mark Hollis and former Florida State AD Randy Spetman.

Oliver was initially offered the USF job, but withdrew at the last minute after a search firm uncovered legal problems in his past. USF then settled on Woolard, who was hired a few days later.

I like Higgins a lot for the job! Jim Lighthall was saying on The Fan today that Higgins absolutely LOVES USF and would do everything in his power to see the university succeed. I love the idea of having someone who graduated from USF and is passionate about our university and the athletic programs he would be in charge of. To me, that's definitely what we need!

And the coup de gras is that he could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman wearing white gloves.  Duh, winning.
