There are plenty of positions where I am very definitive, sometimes my position is simply I do not think this pipe dream idea that has become commonly accepted here is quite as guaranteed as people are pretending (I do not think there is a way to be resolute in that stance as I am not saying I think its impossible just not the given that people are pretending despite being wrong time and time again).

I too don't like the many FAU coaches. That said, most anything is better than what we had.

Jason Jones has a pretty solid resume. So to get back on topic, I don't see a problem with some of the hires.

USF may not necessarily have better talent than FAU right NOW (i don't do 'cruitin stats), and I think every logical person on this board knows next year won't be a 10 win season, and may be a struggle to be a 6 win season, but USF CAN and SHOULD recruit better talent than FAU. So if these coaches at FAU can coach up nobody kids to a couple solid seasons, they should be up to the task to do it to the talent level that can be had at USF.

I'll go talk to Rick and Morty - maybe they can find a parallel universe where Leavitt comes back and we can find out if there's any inkling of success...🙄

FAU has been scoring tons of points, and the Defense was pretty **** good with getting lots of turnovers.  Their offense has been prolific, and they have been winning conference championships.  I'm not sure why there is such high concern about the hires from this school.  They have proven themselves at the cusa level, maybe they are actually ready to be promoted to the AAC and have success.

Agree this doesn't get turned around overnight, but I think it happens quicker than most people think it will.

Skip had proven himself at the CUSA level as well, don’t remember that one working out too well for us.

Hmm, I'm seeing a pattern.   Perhaps this is why puc left the research to someone else

Did you really think this argument was going to go any other way? Remember, this is someone who won't call Michael Vick a dual-threat QB because it would mean admitting Bell utilized QB designed running plays at Valdosta.

Yeah but he was the head coach, a little different.

Look, I don't know any better than anyone else if this is going to all work out.  There are alot of first time promotional hires, not just for the Assistants but for CJS as well.  It could all fall apart, but I'm going to be optimistic and trust that CJS knows what he is doing, until he proves me wrong.  He should be getting some good advice from both his Dad and from Dabo - so there is that.

Did anybody look at the history of these coaches?

Was there all this skepticism when the last Db coach was hired?

Jason Jones has had higher profile jobs than this guy....which seems to be the measuring stick for some on this board.

Some numbers:

Total Defense: FAU 49th USF 72nd

Scoring Defense: FAU 40th (22.7)  USF 75th (28.9)

Rush Defense: FAU 34th (135.5) (17tds) USF 114th (208.6) (27 tds)

Pass Defense: FAU 87th (238.7)(23 tds)     USF 14th (189.5)(15tds)

3rd Down Defense: FAU 13th (.313 conversion avg) USF 121st (.463 conversion avg)

Turnovers (fumbles/ints): FAU  11/22   USF 12/12

Tackles for Loss: FAU 46th (88) USF 5th (99)

Sacks: FAU 34  USF 29

Pass Efficiency Defense: FAU 39th (123.42) USF 51st (129.08)

AT worse it is an a marginal upgrade, but at best we bring back the days when teams feared our defense!

Looks like an upgrade for the most part, but we have to remember this is CUSA level football, so its a little apples vs oranges.  Also, don't particularly like the Pass Defense stat - looks like a downgrade there!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
