I just watched the GT game against Alcorn and wasn’t overly impressed with their D. It was Alcorn but even so, their WRs were open, it’s just they didn’t have a QB who could complete a pass.

Offensively, they are who they are and run that system to perfection but has a lot of issues completing passes than previous years. Their QB hasn’t developed into a good passer.

If Barnett is accurate then it’s going to force GT to drop a LB into coverage or just play nickel which will then open up Cronk in the running game plus he can catch out of the backfield and I would take him over any GT LB any day.

we may actually get to fully see this offense run how it’s supposed to.

GT played a bunch of guys on D that you probably won’t even see, unless we are blowing y’all out. We played 9 true freshman on D, and rotated so much it’s not even funny. We have a new D coordinator so he was more than likely getting a feel for his 2 deep and wanted to see some guys play a little more that might not get that during the season so he can get a better feel for them. We also were very very vanilla on defense as well as offense.

Why on earth would you be blowing us out?  We’re 29-5 over the past 35 games. One of 5 FBS teams with that many wins over that time period and 4 of those made the CFP playoffs.  You went 5-6 last year.

Based on what I am seeing now, I hope GT blows out FSU too.

NM - Miami?  Blow out someone in Florida in the ACC.

As long as the tackling is not Elon levels of sharpness, we should be good.  I worried about some of their runs gashing us majorly.

Might want to go back and read my post in the context it was written. I said you probably won’t see many of the guys we played Saturday unless we are blowing y’all out. It was an example and an explanation that we played a bunch of guys in the first game to get a feel for them. At no time did I say we would or predict that we would blow y’all out. Also Id bet if we had y’all schedule we would have won 10 games as well......no offense but we play Miami, VT, Clemson, and UGA every year. We also lost 3 games that should have never been lost, however an L is an L.

Remember when we use to play Pitt, Louisville, and Pitt every year.  College football is about greedy schools that have it and don't want to let others in.  See Kansas, Texas and others in the Big12.

Many teams play a lot of young guys early but if I had to bet, the 1s were primarily playing the first two quarters and that’s where I made my assessment.

Yes it was a very vanilla defense but having WRs of a lower caliber that open and giving them that much cushion could be disturbing.

If either Alcorn QB could complete a pass, they may have made it a little more competitive.

there is no way GT can play off of USFs WRs like that. If they do, GT will have to drop a LB in coverage which then let’s people see how Cronk can run.

Ive been seeing the fact that CCS hasn't coached against an option team in a long time on this board and theirs, as big disadvantage. I don't see it that way, the triple option isn't really a gimmick type of offense, its more of a this is what we are going to do and if we execute it, you can't stop it. Stoping it is more about repping your front seven than having experience coaching against it. The team just has to have discipline.

It also helps that our defense has faced the triple option from Navy for each of the last three years.

It all means nothing unless our undersized defense can stop the run.

Pretty sure we didn't play them last year.  Rotate 2 years on and 2 off.
