  1. Good game guys, it went WAY different than I exspected with the high score and crazy special teams. I think y’all actually have a chance to win out, Houston and UCF will be y’all big test imo. Wish y’all the best! I’ll think about coming on next year to talk some trash lol. USF definitely gained more respect from me.
  2. I get what you are saying about the QB, but like you said it was Elon. I think it’s best to give someone a few games to really know before saying how good he is. The other reason I don’t buy into him yet is the fact that if he was this amazing QB why could he never pass other QB’s at two other schools? I mean, he’s now on his 3rd team. Now, that doesn’t mean he can’t be good, and guys can definitely change in a year, but that’s why I need to see more from him and I don’t see the QB points as being valid after just 1 game.
  3. Last year holds no weight on this year for either team. Could turn out to be an amazing game.
  4. Playing Navy should help, however have many if any at all on D played Navy?
  5. Got to remember Duke plays GT every year and knows the option offense better. They also play tougher competition (no offense to USF) y’all don’t have much control over that. Everything’s not made equal when comparing teams. As far as the offense y’all still have a ? At QB compared to last year, however we have a ? At DB. Its really hard to make comparisons to last year when so many things are different.
  6. Ken is not the type to talk GT up, like some teams have when a writer writes about them. Don’t get me wrong, he does a good job, but this isnt very in depth imo. The one thing about the secondary is, they are young but big and athletic, only 1 CB is under 6’0 but the dude is good and probably the fastest on the team. The 2 deep at SS are guys that are 6’2 and 6’4. The “new” starting FS has been in this type of D system since he’s been in college and is a grad transfer so he’s far from inexperienced, he also helps get the D lined up since he’s been in it for so long. The guy backing him up is 6’3 and our return guy. Ken also didn’t mention that our 2 starting CB’s beat out the guys who got a lot of playing time from last year, although one from last year was injured (back this week). While true that our secondary is the most unknown, they are probably our most athletic group with both starting CB’s being 4 star guys. Swilling (CB) is the son of former 4 time in a row pro bowl LB for the saints. Just because you haven’t been tested doesn’t mean you won’t produce. Now, I say this and y’all could still pass really well on us, I’m just trying to give perspective of a deeper understanding compared to what Ken said. When talking about bout the OL changing, that doesn’t surprise me one bit. Coming into the game the OL staff was not sure who they wanted to start (this coming from CPJ himself). Quinney at LT or Morgan at RG. Whoever got the start they then would put Bryan in the other spot. They ended up putting Morgan in, this week they will slide Bryan to RG and let Quinney get the start at LT from my understanding. The OL played poor, but CPJ said they are better than that, the OL is pretty experienced. It’s also said this could be the best OL under CPJ, just seemed like last week was a bad game, and not from a stand point of getting beat, it was stuff like blocking the wrong guy from what CPJ said. Keep in mind our 1st and 2nd string Bbacka both averaged over 7 ypc in week 1 even with the disappointment from our coach. The comment highlighted of the “will need every advantage” is just an opinion. and the last comment highlighted might affect the game or might not. And this seems to skip the very last comment of the article. either way, this could turn out to be a good game and I wouldn’t get to down or excited about an article. Last year was last year and last week was last week. If ive learned anything about football it’s that football can be so unpredictable from one year to the next and one week to the next.
  7. I’d definitely say this isn’t like a UNC, Kansas, NC state type game. GT has been a WAY better program than those teams. However, we aren’t the FSU, Auburn type games either. I’d say we are somewhere in the middle.
  8. The issue is, you see 8-5 over the last decade as being “average” but when you look at what other schools are doing thats just false. You even posted a link that we are a .592 team over the history of GT which is 31st our of 130 teams. I get what you are saying and what you are trying to get at, but you have a perception of GT that’s just false as far as being “average” and the numbers back it up compared to other schools. If you are going to compare numbers you can’t just use 1 school and say, oh, they’re average without knowing how they compare in those numbers to the majority of other programs. Fact of the matter is, GT over the last decade has had more success as a whole than the majority of college football teams. Look at just the ACC for instance, they have been the 4th best team in the last 10 years behind FSU, Clemson, and VT, I’m sorry but 4th best in ACC is anything but average, we would need to be around 8 for that to be true. And for the record I get what you are saying about this being a big game for y’all, I wouldn’t declare this as that for y’all either.
  9. Since 2010 (not sure why that’s the ransoms year we go to) we have had 2 losing seasons and 3 seasons with 8 or more wins, if you go back to 2008 (since our coach has been at GT) we have 5 seasons of 8 or more wins. We’ve also had more ACCCG appearances than anyone in our division except for VT. Yes we have some down years, but we’ve still averages 7.9 wins since CPJ has been at GT and that’s with a 3 win and 5 win season. I’d dare to say 7.9 wins over 10 years, on average is better than most football program. So simple math would tell us a .500 team averages 6 wins. And your right, I don’t agree with you, because facts override perception. Btw I’m not one of those varsity guys, if I get it, it’s because I’m not in the area much, but it’s really not that great imo. Do you not like it?
  10. I wouldn’t worry to much about it, imo GTSwarm is the best site. Also I’d guess every fan base has those guys, his jokes aren’t even funny anyways.
  11. Yea, so Mason really showed out this off season and it’s been said he’s the most talented from an all around aspect, blocking, catching, running. It shows because he passed up last years 2nd string, I’ve also heard he might end up starting by years end. Unfortunately we don’t have both on the field at the same time. Lynch, and Searcy are both seniors and really good Abacks but we really can’t get the ball in their hand on purpose but for a couple of plays, rocket toss being one of them. I’d say RB as a whole is our best/deepest position in the team.
  12. Update on our depth chart for this week. On Defense it stayed the same and offense as well with the exception on 3 position. Our LT is moving to RG (he’s played both positions a lot) and our 2nd string LT from last week will get the start at LT, idk how good he is, last year he redshirted so this is his first start. I’m assuming our head coach was pleased with the play of the 2nd string LT over the 1st string RG hence the move. GT is best when they have a solid G/C/G combo and thats probably what we have with the move. However, the center is still trying to learn it, he has been our starting LT for two years but because of an injury to our starting center he had to move. Our original starting center probably won’t play till next week. And he might slide into guard and send the RG now back to LT. OT is what I’m most worried about now, our RT is good but was injured all of last year, he does have a lot of experience though. Bback is the other change, the 1st string guy was suspended 1 quarter last week for being late to something, so he will get the start this week. On injuries, we get Swilling back which is a very talented LB who has yet to put it all together, he will be a backup. We also get one of our starting CB’s back from last year, but doesn’t look like he will get the start. We didn’t have any noticeable injuries from last week that I’ve seen.
  13. Completely right, but your obviously missing the point being made...... point is, last year is last year and holds no weight on this year, and 2nd we weren’t as bad as our record showed, it’s not like we were getting blown out. My comment was being made to a poster that said it’s sad some are acting like this is a big game when GT is a .500 team. Context matters when reading something.
  14. That was last year, if you know anything about GT they can randomly have 2014 type season. We went from 3 wins in 2015 to 9 in 2016. I don’t understand the whole judging a team based on the year before, if you’ve watched football long enough, you know things can change drastically in 1 year. Also GT was a lot better than 5 wins last year. Lost to UT which should have never happened, Miami beat us on the crazy catch, and UVA beat us at the last second which shouldn’t happen. We had real issues closing out games last year.
