That's part of the problem, one shouldn't be there to see Tulsa.  One should be there to see USF.

If that were the case, they’d sell season tickets to practice.

People want the big name schools. We forget that CJL wasn't getting Auburn year one. It took several years to pick up those teams and most of the time it was supposed to be their walk over out of conference game for them. That said Out of conference contracts are usually done years in advance. For example the deal we just got with Florida that starts in 4 years. 4-5 years ago CWT was still bringing us out of the Skip Holtz years and bulding up our team. We are moving forward.

No, I think people want a competitive conference.  Go look at average attendance at some of these other aac schools and many of the mid majors and down.  We are above average.  Like I said. Michigan isn't bringing in 100K per game if they are playing in the aac.

In the mean time "big name teams" at least fill that void.

That's just silly.  They don't want you watching practices.

I go to see my kid play HS basketball.  I would say I enjoy watching him compete against good competition far more than the opposite.  In the latter, I end up looking at my phone a lot.  So, while I love that guy, the competition does figure in to interest of me and other fans - even at the HS level.

There were over 40K there for the alumni game against a crappy Cincy team.

I think you just supported what I was trying to say in another post.  While Cincinnati is not a P5 name brand, they are certainly a known entity to the casual fan as well as our loyal ones.   Also, I think some do show up for Homecoming only. As much as Cincinnati used to beat us physically, it has been nice to win against them no matter how down they are. I am certain I am not the only one who thinks that.

"Alumni game".  I like that.

lol, brain fart, but you knew what I meant.  Point is there is support, but it isn't coming game in and game out for Tulsa, Tulane, etc. and a go nowhere conference.  And that isn't different than the majority of places in the country

Jim,

I've known you a long time. I have an extra ticket. Meet me at the Bull Backers lot ... tailgate with us(my little group has grown to 10) and we'll go to the game.

We are high up in the shade and I have club access.

Go BULLS !!!

What a great thread this is. We've managed to combine the Leavitt controversy, OCS, league, fans and whatever in 7 short pages. Just shows we didn't need 1,800 pages for the conference rumors.  But since I've got a post started.  It wasn't Woolard's decision to fire Leavitt (to whomever posted that).  I've said this numerous times before; his fate was sealed at the 31 - 0 game at Rutgers.  The point of no return was when he said he was the most powerful man in the building.
