The Big 12 wants more exposure on the east coast. The conference will now have bowl tie-in with the Russell Athletic Bowl:

Russell Athletic Bowl > Home

Additionally, Charlie Strong does have connections with recruiting the state of Florida.

This is news indeed.

Gee, a game with Texas, and BYU. This seems awful Big 12-y. 

 

Keep climbing - attendance, wins, sales, bowl games. We need to keep doing what we need to do.

Charlie kills it in FL recruiting. I would not be surprised if he was the one that pushed scheduling USF

Is there a better job he's going to be taking? He prints his own money and doesn't have to drive more than 100 miles for unlimited talent.

The only reason why Texas is coming here because Charlie Strong wants to recruit the Florida boys

If that's true, it would have been 2 games in Tampa and one in Austin...

I never understood how "Hey, we play in Tampa in 10 years, so you should move from your high school in Palatka to come play for my football team today" actually works in practice. 
I don't buy it.
