Hope the Texas return game doesn't end up like the UF return game

USF never had a home game scheduled with UF. UF will never play in Tampa against USF. NEVER!!! We had two games scheduled up in Gainesville and we only played one. The other was cancelled which is fine with me as I had a horrible time in that town.

Nowjustwaitaminutetherebuddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

USF will get their Big 10 invite and play the Gators in the Outback bowl in 2028. Book it!

Why does everyone think there was a UF return game? It was a 2 for 0.

Come on, Joe, "everyone?" ONE person said that and he's been corrected numerous times ...

Didn't see anything official from UT in there .... and I'm not trying to bust your chops but if the only source they had is the one we've got, still may not be a done deal. The BM has been known to want to be the first, not necessarily the most accurate.

What are you, a doubting Thomas?  It's all over the internet.

yes, yes he is :D

And dT is still waiting for an official corroboration ....  ;)

8 years ago we turned down a series with Texas because it was 2 for 1. UCF ended up getting it.

Incorrect. That 2-for-1 series with UCF/Texas with the first game of the series set for Opening Day of UCF's BHNS back in 2007 was set up by ESPN...specifically to showcase that first game ever played on-campus at UCF with the 2005 National Champion Longhorns.

UT wasn't even looking for a game in FLA but ESPN helped convince them of it (UCF agreeing to play 2 games in Austin obviously helped).

No. I know for 100% this was correct.

I know for sure Mack Brown (who was the head coach at UT at the time) claimed to be a very good friend of UCF's head coach.  Mack wanted to help UCF open their new on-campus stadium, so I wouldn't be surprised if he had something to do with UCF being added to the UT schedule.  That was a 2 for 1 series, which will end in 2017.

As far as I know, that was the first time (in my life time) that Texas has played in the state of Florida.

That makes more sense than the ESPN pimping UCF's new stadium scenario ...

The only reason why Texas is coming here because Charlie Strong wants to recruit the Florida boys

So you think Texas is coming because there's a benefit to them? Interesting.

Amazingly I get paid. But only when I show up for work.

The Big 12 wants more exposure on the east coast.  The conference will now have bowl tie-in with the Russell Athletic Bowl:

Russell Athletic Bowl > Home

Additionally, Charlie Strong does have connections with recruiting the state of Florida.
