This.

I think the media plays a huge role in getting fans excited about going to games. Locally, we have beat writers that focus more on the negative than the positive.

Then how do you explain that our biggest crowds in football history happened when we had by far the most negative beat writer?  Joey Knight isn't the in the same negative universe as McMurphy.

Nationally, it seemed like the ESPN announcers were putting USF down the entire game (with some exceptions). I think there is extreme bias against USF.

I don't think the opponent is the problem. Penn State drew over 100k fans to watch them play Akron. Miami drew over 50k to watch a game against Bethune-Cookman, etc, etc... Obviously, we'd all rather see better opponents.

Was that announced or actual?  :D

Our attendance is abysmal. No excuses, flat-out embarrassing.

Well I think the bigger issue is waking up early the next morning.  For die hard fans not a issue but for the joe blow I can see how it would hurt attendance.

I get that but if this is a once a season thing I think a consideration for attending some of the game could be given.

You would think so but most I guess rather watch on tv.  Curious what the ratings were in the Tampa for the game.
