Two five-team divisions would allow the Big 12 to continue their round-robin play... and really doesn't affect their schedule, it just means the two "best" teams may not be in the CG.  (Think Clemson & Florida State - what the ACC wants to do).

In reality, the Big Ten amendment is to undo what the ACC wants to do -- and has no real effect on the Big Twelve.

Oh, and one more VERY IMPORTANT thing to remember.  This has to be voted by ALL  of DIVISION ONE.  This is not part of the "Autonomy" for the P5 -- so all schools in the FBS, FCS, and even Division III (no football) have to vote on this.

USF needs to get so good in football the next few years the B12/rest of P5 MUST get USF into a P5 conference. It didn't help Boise but their market sucks. It definitely helped TCU. That's asking alot but consecutive 10+ wins would certainly help.

No one is making the Big 12 do anything

Except for Texas or maybe ESPN. :FIREdevil:

This hits it directly in the head.

Their schedule will not be affected by setting up divisions, however the AAC example is the prime reason that the B10 doesn't want to do divisions.  They rather just have the best 2 teams in the conference in the CCG.

Okay. But in my mind for football Texas and Oklahoma IS the Big12.

Just like Kansas is Big 12 basketball.

I agree with this.  There is not one thing that gets you into a P5 conference but if there was it would be winning (and an OCS of course :FIREdevil:).

1. OCS

2. Winning more than 4 games a year

When it comes to P5 invite. Obviously.

I guarantee you some sort of shuffling is going down this summer. This time last year, it was quiet. There's smoke this year.

The most quiet and easiest path: the Big 12 add two teams. Loud and noisy: big shuffling and movements between the P5s.

If the Big 12 adds two teams, USF has about 25% as an independent, say like with Cincy or some other school, and 30% as a combo with clown-U because of the TV market and the rivalry.

No way they go with BYU. Too complicated with the scheduling. UConn makes no sense for traveling. Houston makes no sense for TV territory.

It's dodge ball team picking time. Only the chunky kids are left!

Smile and suck in your gut, USF!

are you new to this? there is smoke every year/summer. I'm convinced it's College Football bloggers getting bored after signing day where there is nothing else to speculate about

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
