Just to play this out a little further.

Holtz went 5 - 7 in his 2nd year with Leavitt's guys.

Holtz is 7 - 3 in his 2nd year with Dykes' guys with losses at OK and Auburn

Dykes > Leavitt?

Not sure. Different levels of play. Skippy was in over his head here, but is at home with his current competition.

We should have made a run at Dykes. He is doing a decent job at Cal and they were in a rut similar to the one we were/are in. At least the game would fun to watch.

Holtz teams sucked just as bad as CWT's teams have so far. Difference is, for me, there was no hope for Holtz. And right now all I have is hope for Taggart teams.

Holtz teams, without BJ, sucked just as bad as CWT's teams have so far. Difference is, for me, there was no hope for Holtz. And right now all I have is hope for Taggart teams.

Edited for a wee bit more accuracy ...

Holtz teams had almost as many marquee wins in a season and a half that Leavitt did in his entire career.

Hold up, hold up, hold up.... First of all, you are exaggerating. Secondly, and most importantly, Leavitt did all the grunt work of creating a team from SCRATCH, and created a team that was exciting. Holtz got to reap the benefit of that work for a little while. I'm not happy at all about the job that Holtz did here. I have nothing against the guy, besides him putting forth a piss poor effort and was making bank (still is) doing it.

Miami, UL away, Rutgers. Teams that The Jim had problems beating.
