Not too bad...but I hope Genshaft has at least considered other forms of income rather than just immediately shifting this extra burden onto the students again.

Better this way than making them pay separately to go to the games. Maybe more will go if they figure they're already paying for it ....

Call me a capitalist but ...

You're a capitalist.

It's only 250 more, but what are they already paying?

There is a flat fee of $10 + an hourly fee of something like $17 (IIRC) - http://usfweb2.usf.edu/uco/studentaccounting/Other_Fees.asp. This includes not just access to football games, basketball games, and other athletic events but also access to intramural sports and athletic facilities such as gyms and what not.

If my numbers are right (pretty sure they are close) and increase of $250 would be a 50% increase in total fees dedicated to athletics.

Do the student's have to pay to get into any of the games (e.g. football, basketball, baseball, etc.)?

No.. it's all covered by the fees.

They can attend any home game of any sport for free.

...And use of the Bull Runner to go to the games.. and now discounted parking.. and other perks.

That actually sounds like a pretty good deal - roughly $250 and you get to attend any home game for any sport for 4 years, and you get to support your school. I would have an issue with the fees if there was no tangible benefit to the student.

With the increase students will pay over 1,900 over a 4 year/120 hour term when you include the $10 a semester flat fee.

and tuition is STILL less expensive here in Florida than some in-state fees in other states.

Students have options if they don't want to pay the fees.

People going to Florida State schools and never looked elsewhere have no idea what a bargain USF is.  When we moved from NJ for our daughter to attend USF, in-state tuition at NJ schools was more than out-of-state tuition at USF.

They get free tickets. Don't get that at most schools. Look at it as students just paying for their tickets.

At some schools students actually camp out a week+ in advance to get/keep their place in line for tickets.

Yeah, like UF.

That doesn't justify making students pay for intercollegiate sports.

If they don't want to be forced to pay for intercollegiate sports, let them go somewhere else .. Everybody has a choice

Great. Still doesn't change my stance.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
