Joe- Apparently Floyd benefitted from extra time. How can you say Bench wouldn't?

I am looking forward to the new Floyd.  The past coaching staff was pretty bad so I think Floyd will surprise some people.

Floyd doesn't have to do it all if he can just manage the game and keeps turnovers to a minimum we will have a pretty good offense this year.

I'm sure it helped his confidence last year when he was the backup all yr and the holtz burned Evelds RS to start him over Floyd

This. IMO, this is one of the worst things Holtz did last year. Made no sense.

Not saying he wouldn't, but the idea that Floyd beat Bench solely because Floyd had "more time" in the system is jaded. Bench isn't the superstar everyone had hoped, at least not yet.

I'm trying to keep an optimistic view on Floyd starting. I have these images burned in my head of him fumbling what seems like every snap.

The fact that Taggart said the difference was night and day from Spring gave me hope. I trust Willie Taggart and respect his decision. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want Bench to start, but that's mainly because I've seen Eveld and Floyd and didn't like what I saw at that time. It's hard for me to imagine much worse.

Here's to revamped hopes and fresh starts!

My thought on that is one guy has had since whenever Taggart was hired vs. the other guy has been here since late June or so.  That would make a big difference in learning the playbook.  Not saying it IS the reason but it certainly COULD be the reason.

Taggart is like Spurrier in that he is a QB at heart, knows what he wants, has high expectations, and will get the maximum from his QB.

If we don't get the right performance, he will make changes. I have no doubt.

But at least with Taggart, we have a guy who can truly coach a QB.
