Slick, between Cosh and Bresnahan, who would win a battle for your undying love and affection? I'm thinking Cosh, since everyone that Holtz hired was fantastic. :D  I, on the other hand, am on the "anyone but Cosh" tip. I think Coach B should be provided an opportunity to either succeed or fail at being a college defensive coordinator on his own merits. The season hasn't started yet, so I'm hoping for the best.

Maybe we'll have a placekicker article with a special emphasis on who will do kickoffs and what the prognosis is. Will we kick more left or right' and who the hell will care a year from now.

That's what I want to see.

Wasn't the DC part of the Georgia Tech NC squad?

Slick didn't want him fired now.  Only by midseason if USF wasn't #1 in FBS in all defensive categories and undefeated.  :D

No, I'm pretty sure that he wanted CWT to be ready to fire him by week three.

I'm not thrilled with this hire at all. I expect an average defense this year. I suspect he'll do better than Cosh; mostly because he won't have Skip harping on him to play soft as f#@%. Taggart knows what you do with Florida speed and will be forcing his staff to do it.

I think CCB will not adjust well to the college game, he'll be in over his head. He's also just, frankly, not that good. That said, I *think* our head coach IS that good and he'll hide some of his DC's shortcomings. I have confidence that CCB can run a scheme someone else forces him to run. Whereas our former "CEO" would just watch and politely ask his lackeys to please fix the problem.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."
