There's no doubt I wouldn't need beer to be rowdy at the game.... But I'd put my money on a drunk fan if we're talking a 0-10 scale rowdy-factor! Alcohol does nothing but loosen your inhibitions. Once again, it is thinking, not alcohol that people need to be concerned with.

EXACTLY.All this stuff about people bringing flasks into the game at places where alcohol isn't sold just proves how hooked / dependent so many people are on this stuff. If you don't think ceasing the sale of alcohol at games would make at least somewhat of a dent in unruly behavior, you are either very ignorant, or trying very hard to believe something you really don't. I couldn't say the same about Bucs games where I have seen many obnoxious drunks over the years. I walked in and out with KU fans and didn't witness any nastiness but one KU fan mentioned to me his group got yelled at pretty bad when walking through what he described as the student lot.As for the beer, I think it should be sold. I drink but almost never at the games, either before or during so it wouldn't impact me but I don't think it is right to punish responsible people for the acts of a few. Seems like more security in the troubled areas is necessary.Regardless of the drinking we should be gracious to visiting fans. You could still have some fun but nothing that gets personal or abusive. The traveling fans are only doing what we do from time to time. Before the Bulls, the Seminoles were my adopted team and I went to a handful of away games. The worse was the Gators fans. I actually left a game in Tallahassee because my tickets were in the middle of a block of Gator fans and my wife and I had Seminole gear on. We were threatened and left the stadium. On the other hand I went to the FSU/Michigan game in 1991 and was treated very well by a number of Michigan fans. Went to their bonfires, had a pig roast, beer kegs and we were treated like respected guests. Even after the wild FSU victory the fans outside the stadium were very polite and cordiall. I have always held Michigan in a better light after that experience

I'm with a 16 and 12 year old and the whole dissing/cursing/getting in the face of KU fans while not celebrating your own team is not what I want them to learn.I never see any issues on the way into the stadium so I'm not opposed to drinking before the game. I agree with the major crackdown on underage drinking, zero tolerance for sneaking in booze and cutting off beer sales at the second half kickoff. Maybe giving the younger crowd the second half to sober up a bit would help.
