Is it time to stop selling beer at USF Football games?

Should USF ban the sale of alcholo during football games at Raymond James?

This is an interesting discussion, and was the point of posting it... personally, I come down on the side of people need to be responsible for their own behavior... so beer should still be allowed inside RayJay.

However, there needs to be a significant crackdown on underage drinking in the parking lots... TSA should refuse entry to anyone (students or not) who is obviously inebriated...

I also like the penalties for excessive behavior.  USF can get arrest and ejection reports from Raymond James and cancel the season ticket or student tickets for those who are arrested/ejected for unruly behavior towards other fans - friend or foe alike.

Finally, we probably need to review our good samaritan laws to protect those who step up.  Some have said they don't want to go to jail because they get into a fight with a drunk USF fan being belligerent to others.

totally agree so long as this is within reason...technically I was "kicked out" at the Elon game, at least of my section, not escorted out of the stadium. it had nothing to do with issues with other fans or unruly behavior or anything of the like...just had to do with cops already pissed off at people in my section and looking for a reason to kick out those associated with them. I think the ultimate decision in that should not be a blanket policy but done on a situational basis

No Trip. There were 90000+ people at the game, compared to 58000. A heated rivalry, compared to casual out of conference game.

Listen. I'm not against beer. I'm against beer at college sporting events.

I agree people should be responsible for their own actions, but you have to look at the demographics of the crowd

Do you REALLY need beer to watch USF football?

I don't REALLY need beer or other alcohol for anything I do in life...but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy having it as an option

and if getting rid of beer would in any way inflate their already ridiculous soda/gatorade prices I'd be against it...just sayin

There were twice as many ejections and 6 times as many arrests in a stadium that had not quite twice as many spectators.  Is my math off, or does it appear that there were many more ejections/arrests per person in attendance in Gainesville than at RJS?  And honestly, do you really think that Friday night's game was just a "casual out of conference game"?  What stadium were you sitting in my friend?  Maybe we need to turn more of our ejections into arrests, but then you run the risk of people getting ejected/arrested for stupid crap like standing up or getting drawn into an altercation by someone else.

And do I really need YOU telling me that I don't need beer to watch USF football?

Your math is off...

121 ejections / 90,833 people = 0.13%  or 1 per 750 people

64 ejections / 58755 people = 0.11%  or 1 per 918 people

If you can't get rowdy at games without beer i really have to question how much you want to be there.

EXACTLY.

All this stuff about people bringing flasks into the game at places where alcohol isn't sold just proves how hooked / dependent so many people are on this stuff.

Sneaking flasks into games is a college football tradition  ..... just like no chairbacks.

I have a friend (me) who sometimes brings a flask into the stadium.  One, I want to keep a good buzz going - I am responsible and never drive when drinking - And Two, I'm tired of paying ridiculous prices for a beer inside the stadium.

I've never yelled or attacked visiting fans or fellow bulls fans for that matter.  I've had drunk visiting fans (Rutgirls) get in my face before, so yeah, I've returned verbal fire but only when it was initiated by another.

Again, it's all about personal responsibliity and if others infringe on your personal freedoms then they should be punished.  But removing beer sales from the stadium only detracts from your personal freedoms and your right to be a responsible adult making adult decisions.

If you drink, know your limiit and have a DD.  If you get out of hand, pay the price.  And everyone should hold their friends or family accountable for their actions.  And step up law enforement on underage drinking and those acting violent and beligerant toward others.

I agree the reports should be reviewed, perhaps with an appeals process... because "standing" is different than "assaulting"... (and yes, from some comments here, I would say they would fit in the criminal definition of assault)...

But the ejection reports should indicate the circumstances, allowing USF to make the decision on how to handle them.

How is my math off if there is 1 ejection for every 750 people in Gainesville vs. 1 ejection for every 918 people in Tampa?  Is it because I used the word "many"?  Either way, there were more ejections per person in attendance in Gainesville, and we aren't hearing anything about them being a bunch of jerks.

I could care less I think if we did not sell any beer at the games most of the drunk fans from tailgatting would be ok by halftime so that would cut back on some of the stupidity. I for one cant bring myself to spend $12 dollars on that p*ss water. Im ok with just drinking at the tailgate once inside the stadium my full attention is on the BULLS!!!

I've been tailgating in Lot 14 (the old mall lot) for the past 4 years.  That is where most of the students tailgate.  I think they use to have people/cops walking around checking IDs.  But I haven't seen anyone checking for the past 2 seasons.
