Last year's portal additions and their grade

• Jarren Williams QB: F (a bust on many levels)
• Timarcus Simpson CB: D (minimal playing time, but has 3 more years of eligibility to improve)
• Demarcus Gregory WR: C+ (4th leading receiver on the team but showed some flashes)
• Xander Yarberough DL: F (never made it to campus)
• Jaren Mangham RB: A (what a year)
• Yusuf Terry WR: C- (got some playing time but wasn't really a difference maker)
• Jamari Stewart DL: incomplete, never played due to injury
• Christian Williams CB: B (thought he looked good when he did play, should be a valuable piece next year)
• Matthew Hill S: C+ (made a lot of mistakes but it was his first year at safety)
• Will Jones S: incomplete, never played due to injury

 

Can't afford as many misses this year. Really hoping Stewart and Jones are as good as advertised as that could be 2 additional quality guys "added" to next years roster.

Can't argue . . . one thing I will add about Hill is that sure he will be #2 or 3 next season. He played well for no experience and did learn. Think he will be a bigger impact playing about 25 plays/game in 2022.

I think we are getting better by subtraction with all the players transferring out. Grant and Barber really have did anything while they were here, but if they want to stay and get their education I understand.

Hopefully the defense transfers are much better than the current defensive players. Dukes could be a solid transfer and has Mangham/Cronkite p5 potential to dominate the AAC, if he gets his act together.
