If this becomes permanent, the G5 get screwed. A team like Bama or Clemson can gobble up 32 high school recruits and see who pans out. There will have to be some changes made to the transfer rules. A free-for-all only will further benefit the bigger programs. In our current situation, it is beneficial to us, but once we have some roster stability, a rule like this is only going to hurt.

Thought you were crazy for even considering that the Tide would have 7 players want to leave but then checked and saw they've had 11 so far this year. I think that number 7 over and above the 25 should be adjusted to net transfers ..... you lose 11 but sign 7 transfers, you only get 4 extra hs signees.

Interesting. Wish him well but if he kept fighting for QB1 and improving he had a good shot next year. Especially, if Timmy goes down.  Hope he doesn't land at FAU and beat us in a couple years.

A lot of “ifs” in there. I think QBs in the portal will be as common as water is wet. They will come and go through our program in the coming years.

Marsh-No surprise there. When you see several quarterbacks bail out of a program it is <cause for some worry.> Number 1, they were versed on the offense. 2, They don't see a chance to compete. If CJS brings in a transfer and some freshman, what do we have? A stable of players that haven't run the offense and prob some that have never been in a college game. It is very apparent that CJS is hanging his hat and his job on one guy and one guy only. Hope he has a good grasp of reality and hasn't gotten too far overboard with all the rah rah stuff.

Agreed. I think it'll be impossible for a school to hold onto a backup QB that doesn't have more eligibility than the starter

To have more than 3 QBs is silly.  Maybe have a WR that can play 4th string and run a lot at that point. If your THIRD string QB gets hurt, you have more problems on your hands than just QB problems.

I'm no football guru but I said at the beginning of the season we don't need 7 QBs. We literally had 7 at one point. And meanwhile on defense...

One of coach's biggest jobs is roster management. We need to be smart about this position. We don't need 3 true freshman QBs, nor do we need a throwaway transfer that is not going to be a serious competitor to Timmay.

We were with a FR QB all of 2021 . . . believe both of the High School recruits committed before the 2021 season started.

The sky is far from falling.

If this is an accurate listing of commits?? It looks like a pretty good group on paper. The big guy from UNC is interesting as are a couple others. They visited the QB a couple nights ago...

No, haven't put a hard hat on as yet but...losing 3 quarterbacks in one year is not a healthy sign. Plus, all 3 had been starters somewhere and at some point in time. Looks like they are trying to nab and nurture a high school kid in the area that's committed.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
