We had two QB's on the roster with minimal playing time.

  • Cade was highly recruited and started for UNC, but got injured in 2020. Figured to be the starter.
  • We had Marsh, good talent, but less experience.
  • We go out and get Williams that played a very good season at Miami.
  • We bring in True Freshman McClain.

McClain is the true starter . . . understand the 3 transferring . . . happens. Timmy will have a full offseason to pack on some meat, be stronger and smarter. We'll have Brown and Gunnar battle it out and hopefully we get lucky with one being as good or better than McClain.

Go BULLS !!!

I have a buddy who has a son that plays QB in N.C. He's deep in the HS football world in the "Carolinas". He seen Byrum at a few camps and games. And he told me that Byrum is the real deal and beyond underated.

Does he have any thoughts as of why Brown hasn't received heavy interest from P5 schools?

If this is an accurate listing of commits?? It looks like a pretty good group on paper. The big guy from UNC is interesting as are a couple others. They visited the QB a couple nights ago...

And the 4 DL on this list will most likely be on our 2 Deep come September 3rd.

Go BULLS !!!

skeptical about this, but his recruiting page does show 0 offers since he committed to USF and he went on to have a monster senior year so maybe there's some merit to it.

EDIT: https://247sports.com/Season/2022-Football/CompositeRecruitRankings/?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool&State=NC

According to this he's the #1 QB in the state, so would think if his recruiting is open he'd at least have an offer from Duke/Wake

Hmmmm . . . kids switch on the day even if they committed. Oh well, excited about him and Smith.

It is very apparent that CJS is hanging his hat and his job on one guy and one guy only. Hope he has a good grasp of reality and hasn't gotten too far overboard with all the rah rah stuff.

So he shouldn't have named Timmy the starter and just kept rotating qb's so he's not hanging his hat on one?

Unless there's some inside info that hasn't been revealed, I'm guessing that CJS didn't want to lose any of those experienced qb's and is quite aware of the reality of going into a season with one "veteran" qb, some walk-ons and hopefully, 2 true freshmen.
