Marsh just entered the portal. Next year's QB room is looking like Timmy McClain and a couple true freshman

This is why we most likely will be brining in 2 QB's a year. Wishing Marsh the best!

Marsh leaving is somewhat problematic, but likely to be the way of the world moving forward. If Timmy goes down, we are sunk. While at least one of the two coming in look like they could be really good, they won't be right away. I long for the days when guys stuck around, competed, and tried to get better. Now, they run away from any sort of challenge which naturally stunts their progression. I understand wanting to cut and run if there is a coaching change, but not simply because of adversity. He likely would have been #2 on the depth chart next year backing up a mobile QB. There is always the chance that CJS influenced him to transfer, but I find that highly unlikely given the current QB room.

A waiver proposal is in the works to allow college coaches to replace transfering players, even after reaching the 25 initial counter limit.

If this becomes permanent, the G5 get screwed. A team like Bama or Clemson can gobble up 32 high school recruits and see who pans out. There will have to be some changes made to the transfer rules. A free-for-all only will further benefit the bigger programs. In our current situation, it is beneficial to us, but once we have some roster stability, a rule like this is only going to hurt.

You want a QB to be competitive and wants to be QB1 . . .

QB is the only position that you are most likely not to share the role.

2022 has two HS guys coming in, one will most likely Red Shirt. Both know they are coming in with a very good (SO to be) starter. Believe we have some Preferred Walk On QB's also . . . you never know.

I'm excited about an improved QB Room.

Go BULLS !!!

With all due respect to Mr. Jacobs, unless he has developed at a rapid pace, we are doomed if we are counting on him to backup Timmy. You end up going with Byrum Brown. Either way, it isn't ideal.

We have a Preferred Walk-On from college coming in also.

We have 2 studs coming in at QB. Byrum Brown is a 3000yd passer, 1000 yd rusher and he's not even as highly rated as Gunner. Plus McClain has been labeled the Golden Child. I can understand.

At any level?  Is this something you've read or a guess?  Can see guys moving down to get playing time if they don't get picked up at P5 levels.

It’s very, very, risky. Most go to the FCS level.

“Of the 964, nearly 60% (558) are uncommitted and still searching for a landing spot. The 964 players are split between those transferring from the Power 5 (557 players) and those transferring from the Group of Five (407 players). In a striking statistic, of the 299 Power 5 players who have committed to a new school, 60% took a step down in level, their next destination a Group of Five or FCS school. Just one-third of Group of Five transfers stepped up to the Power 5.”

The transfer portal can be an appealing second start for many...

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
