I hope you are right, I just expected something from the QBs and WRs (literally we got nothing) and I felt most of the RB production was pure raw talent than anything coaching related.

Have to believe that we will be passing more against Notre Dame next week. We will have a better idea of where we are after next week.

On two of the long runs, Noah Johnson hustled downfield to block - so there was that

i agree though, neither did much with their arms

We didnt get killed on 3rd and long.

That was a given for us for the last decade...we always gave up the 3rd and long plays...that didn't happen tonight and it was N I C E to see a change in the D from that perspective.

Which wasn't the case tonight, so....

Outside of just having the pleasant surprise of having football did you really feel anything that resembled excitement? The broadcast was the perfect mise en scene for our performance.

Tonight went as well as anyone could have reasonably hoped. Certainly better than I expected. Best part was seeing an energy along the sideline that was missing the entire Charlie Strong era.

I hope you are right I just remember having this same conversation for months last year about how that minor league coach was in over his head where everyone wanted to see improvement being right around the corner just because they wanted him to be successful. CJS is supposed to be an offensive coach and his offense should look markedly better, maybe next week.

My son is a sophomore at Ohio State. They are miserable having to watch Clemson play tonight.

It really isn't a fair question. Typically, I wouldn't be watching an FCS opponent on TV. I would be at the stadium, heavily buzzed, and excited for the start of the Jeff Scott era. There were a few exciting plays, but triple option teams are naturally boring to play against. Also, the TV  crew was atrocious. So you have to put everything in perspective.

We are still a work in progress but I felt the defense looked better than I expected they would be for first game in along time and vs an option team. Not giving up a TD and your missing starters on the defense...thats pretty impressive.

Offense I thought at times looked good and at other times was sputtering.  They might have been holding some things back but what passing plays they did run its not clicking yet on all cylinders.

My only negative from the game was our kicking we gotta find a kicker....extra points should be automatic.
