And Tubberville made a similar step down. But I'm looking for a coach that was successful enough in the C-USA to look for a jump to a different G5 school.

And I can wait all day.

Sonny Dykes went from Louisiana Tech to the AAC by way of Cal.

So the verdict is, no, coaches don't jump directly from C-USA to AAC.

Because why the hell would they? It's essentially a lateral jump.

If you've built a program in the C-USA to the point you are ready to level up, you're not going to look to spend another three years in a different G5 conference.

Kiffin is/was never coming here this cycle.

Because money wise the AAC is worlds better than conf USA or sun belt

I’m changing my bet. I think there is now a better chance we land a Clemson OC. I still don’t get it why he would but I’m reading that one is really considering it.

It should be obvious to everybody that the typical USF hire usually does not work.

We're 1/3... could be worse 🤔.

The point being, if you are good enough to level up from CUSA to AAC, you are going to be considered for P5 gigs, and from there the options are night-and-day.

And I'm not sure there is enough of a difference in money from CUSA to AAC to make a difference to coaches who have P5 futures in mind.

Well... I guess we did hire CJL but I didnt count him as he is the founder not necessarily a hire. That absolutely made no sense but you get the point.

Does anyone seriously think we were an option for Kiffin? That’s the most insane thought I’ve heard in this whole process. More insane than the notion that firing Strong was impossible.

Why work at a bottom dweller then get fired and have to go back to CUSA. USF is easier to win at than both of those schools and he would set himself up for a higher profile school.

Both those schools are a death sentence for coaching.

Kiffin is an interesting dude... His time at Tennesee was insane. I think I read about it via an article somewhere on this board. Guy was a maniac.  Honestly, with all his quirks he might work out but that has to be the riskiest hire out there.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
