I would be content with KB as the head coach and Joe Brady as OC. I'm sure bigger names will go after Brady though. In order to have a chance of getting him, we'd probably have to throw the head coaching job at him, which isn't going to happen.

Joe Brady is definately not going to come here as a Coordinator.  Its doubtful we could even land him as a HC unless he gets no P5 offers which seems unlikely according to the "chatter".  But who really knows.

Ive seen a lot of people say this on here and twitter, but realistically thats just not true.  From 2005-2009 USF lost a total of 24 games in 5 years.  Of those 24, half (12) were against teams that finished the year ranked.  And of those 24, only 3 losses came against teams with losing records.  2 of those ( 5-6 PITT & 5-6 UConn) came in 2005 when we were just a 6-6 team and first year in the Big East.  The only "bad" losses really were maybe in 2006 against 6-6 Kansas (and that was on the road) and 2008 against 5-7 Louisville.  Our schedules were just much more difficult back then.

People just have a hard time admitting they were ridiculously wrong

Side thought....anyone have any idea where Barry Odom of Mizzou and his staff will end up?

I heard a funny story about how the admin's actually were not planning to fire his staff but then there was some confusion, where the staff heard rumors about them being fired, which caused some people to say some flippant things about administration, which then got back to administration, which then caused them to actually go ahead and fire the staff.

It was mentioned on Podcast Ain't Played Nobody.

Also another funny Wiki post which will soon be updated. "Lowly Vanderbilt." "Failed to cover the spread".

2019

After starting 2019 with an unexpected loss to Wyoming, Missouri won their next five games. They then lost their next five, including losses to Kentucky, Tennessee, and lowly Vanderbilt. Odom's team won the final 2019 regular season game against 2-9 Arkansas but failed to cover the spread.

Odom was fired the next morning [15] .

CJL is a good Defensive Coordinator and an average head coach. As a coach...kind of like CCS.  😎   He had 5 years in a  BCS conference and never won more than 9 games. Pretty much averaged 8 wins a season. So you think it's ok to give a coach 6-8 years to win 10 games? GTFOH man! We barely give a coach 3 years over here b4 we want somebody fired. The double standard with CJL compared to other coaches is hilarious. But go ahead and give this man more false praise.

Leavitt was a solid HC. Where his teams struggled was with depth which isn't surprising for a young program, and having quality assistants around him. Wally was great as a DC but we didn't have good OC's and consistency. Your HC should be hands on but not as much as his staff. You need to have faith in your staff and give them space to be innovative and coach up players and not step on toes. He can do that but question is can we build an entire staff of hungry savy minded coaches. That I haven't seen before at USF. We continue to lack quality across the board.

Seems to work them up.  Seems some of the "plateau" crowd may still be around and part of the resistance.

I mean if you like winning 7-8 games per year with the occasional 9 win season due to beating a wack team in a bowl then go ahead. It works well for Vanderbilt, Wake Forrest, Pitt and UK.  CSL simply had competitive teams that underacheived

Will VPMK allow the new HC to choose his own coaches?

Why wouldn’t he? He allowed CCS to bring in his own guys, and then when he asked for change, he allowed CCS to choose his new assistants.

I have no reason to believe MK will allow the new HC to choose his own staff. In fact, if it is Elliott, I think he’ll do whatever is necessary to get as many Clemson guys as possible.

Clemson offense is going to be a slow bake.  Can we just stick with what we know works around here?
