ECU Game: Not a gimme

While I preach respect your opponent I believe we roll this game. ECU fans seem to think they’re gonna win. BULLS win number 4.

We will have our typical slow start, but will win and cover the spread. 

ECU has an average kicker so we will see Horne return kicks and make big plays again. 

Doubt we will shoot ourselves in the foot again. Also the refs won’t be terrible this week.

As for the 2 to 3 yard runs, you have to do that to keep the field open for the longer plays. You need to have that threat of Cronkrite ripping off a 20 yard run to move the safeties up a few yards and give our receivers a chance to go long. You need that middle run to catch the LBs cheating and creating an opening for Wilcox on a seam route. I will concede that our redzone offense needs to show some improvement, but the 2 to 3 yard plays are a necessity at times. 

You’re absolutely right and what matters most is our offense pulled it off when it came down to the wire. Our defense has let up 14 points this year in the 4th. That’s incredibly good, and funny enough 7 of that was to an FCS team. 

In terms of the 2 to 3 yard runs,  referring more to being deeper in their territory/redzone. I’m only being an armchair QB, but I feel like a short pass could have the potential to be more explosive.  Who knows, but I also truly don’t care as long as we keep getting wins. I’ve seen a lot more creativity from Gilbert this year, even though a lot of that has to do with who is behind center (no disrespect to Q, of course).
