BYU doesn't have a choice to leave for more money. Their contract is up in 2018 and ESPN is aggresively looking to save money, I doubt they'll see those same numbers they've been previously gifted.

Fair point. But their is one more issue...Utah. This is a very strong rivalry. BYU will never officially “go down” to the minor league when their biggest rival and instate challenge is in a P5 conference. The optics would be terrible for them and this is why they are independent now. I would bet they would even decide to lose $ by staying independent than going to a conference for a bit more. I really don’t think the next contract with ESPN will be all that bad. Interestingly, last night their 1-3 team was completely sold out.

Time will tell

Additionally, as an independent, BYU is considered a P5 school.  There is no way they'd join our conference.

So you're saying all we need to do is go Independent?  Should be pretty easy. National Championship here we come.

Has anyone read or heard any explanation from the oh so smart sports media experts as to how it is possible that a lowly non-"power-5" conference can have three teams ranked teams?

Don't worry, the CFB committee will take care of that

This is a great point.  I hope someone in the media steps up and points this out.  AAC has 3 and MWC has 1.  We look pretty good here...

B1G - 5 of 14

PAC - 4 of 12

B12 - 4 of 10

ACC -4 of 14

AAC - 3 of 12

SEC - 3 of 14

MWC - 1 of 12

As a conference as a whole, we are clearly better than the other G5 conferences.

Does anyone remember the best a conference has done ranking wise in a given week while USF has been a member?

it seems like the Big East had 4 simultaneously ranked teams in either 2007 or 2008

The American's 3 this week tie our previous high
