I have almost completely eliminated talk radio. You can get much more in-depth, local sports discussion on almost any team via Podcasts. USF, Bucs, Bolts, Rays..

It would not be surprising.  ESPN built itself upon personalities in the early years when they had little sports content.  In the last 10 or 15 years they've gone crazy with content, sometimes competing only with themselves to drive up the cost of sports programming.  All of this has effected the bottom line, so something has to go.  In the case of ESPN, that something was first a good chunk of production staff that helped ensure the quality of their broadcasts.  Since then there has been a steady exodus of long time, high priced on air talent.  Mike and Mike would fit into that category.  ESPN has chosen content over on air talent, so the exodus will continue until they stabilize their margins.

Probably cheaper to pay whatever it is to buy into the syndicated show than to actually pay on-air talent and production staff for the locally produced show

I agree as much as Tom could be annoying at times those two did talk USF football and have CWT on from time to time. Atleast it was local sports in morning.  Mike and Mike is terrible.
