  1. You know if you sort by conference name, we're actually 4th in the nation. I feel like that's something the hallowed Committee should take into account
  2. What I would like to see is South Florida decimate everyone in front of them by 20+ points and leave no question about where this team belongs in the postseason. Below is how I feel about the AAC brackets: F FAU F Memphis F SMU F Charlotte F North Texas F UAB F ECU F Tulsa F UTSA F Wichita State F Tulane F Temple F Rice
  3. That's why the Big 12 quickly took the TV deal extension that was offered in order to remain stable. Gave them time to pitch the Pac12 as unstable (with the help of the terrible leadership in the Pac12) and poach more teams to try to boost their worth for the next deal.
  4. That 2012 team did better than "mediocre/okayish" in the Big East. We finished 12-6 in conference play and in a 3-way tie for 3rd place in a league that put 9 teams in the tournament. But as someone else said, that team's mindset was wholly different from this year's. It wasn't as explosive offensively, but they had a way of grinding other teams' offense to a halt. It would be interesting to watch for sure.
  5. Hey hey hey hey, West Virginia is a great place to live (if you wanna get hooked on opioids)
  6. Doubtful. Has he even gotten any minutes since the first handful of games? The offense didn't look great early in the season with him on the floor, at least looking back through the box scores. CAAR has seemed content to lean on our guards/forwards to handle business even when bigs were killing us in the paint.
  7. Considering Youngblood, Stroud and Jennings followed CAAR here, I imagine they're not going anywhere unless he does
  8. On the bright side, the likelihood of us losing to them 49-0 in basketball is not very high
  9. Not that we have any home games left, but we're officially a Quad 1 road win now if someone had that opportunity
  10. But the point still sort of stands. Taking strike 3, unless it comes on a pitch with absurd break, is never a good look. To the polar opposite, I can see an argument for both sides. A pitcher who just walked a guy on 4 pitches may just not have control at all and you don't wanna help him out if he can't find the strike zone. On the flip side, a pitcher who just walked a guy on 4 pitches may be looking to "just get one in" and put a meatball over the plate.
  11. Hilarious to call UConn a basketball over academics move. As if UConn wouldn't be one of, if not THE, highest rated universities in the Big 12 and the highest among those listed as going to the ACC. USF, Tulane and UConn would be sound athletic AND academic additions. They're a part of the vast 12Anon propaganda arm.
  12. I'm not defending him. I've said here previously that I'd love if he got the team turned around, but I'm more inclined to believe he's gone after the season. One of those guys who is better suited as an assistant (in this case pitching coach) rather than the manager. I was just responding to that specific example. When young players are willing to sit and look at strike three, you can blame coaching to a degree. When you're talking about college players and above (hell even high school players and above), to me that's more on the players than it is coaching. You learn from a young age to protect the zone with two strikes and try to put the bat on the ball if it's anywhere close rather than leave it up to the umpire.
  13. Ehhhh, the players are old enough to know better in that situation. My daughter's softball team (10U), I remind them all the time that they can't get hits if they don't swing the bat. Sometimes they just need the nudge and reminder that we'd rather they go down swinging than praying for a walk. College-aged kids shouldn't need that reminder or that kick in the pants.
  14. So as it stands, likely any one of ECU, Rice, Tulsa, or Wichita State. Teams we've beaten (Rice twice). We should at the very least reach the semis assuming we take care of our own business and don't overlook that first game.
  15. Gladly took the moneyline and the over. I was concerned we might be rusty, but still felt we'd win and 135 was an easy over for me. ETA: The only USF MBB game I've lost a bet on, we still won but didn't hit our over. The other 5 or 6 bets I've put down on MBB have won.
  16. I took these both as "USF Softball beat an ACC team." Nothing more, nothing less.
  17. Maybe if he was the only one saying it. But The Athletic had a piece a few weeks before he gave this quote saying essentially the same thing. Might be where he got the idea. On another note, Memphis getting their **** together means we have a Quad 1 win back
  18. Wow, so ~18K to men's sports and only ~5,500 to women's sports? Close the gender fan gap!
  19. Maybe instead he's praising him for blessing him with the talent to coach up the young men with whom he's been entrusted? That's how I take it when athletes praise the big man upstairs, for giving them the abilities they've been blessed with as a base to build off of.
  20. By all accounts the players love playing for him. After the season last year a lot of current and former players came to his defense. I'm an optimist and am all for giving guys the chance to get it turned around. I hope he can get it figured out before we get to conference play and go on a run. The current athletic year has been a fun ride and I just want baseball and softball to keep that going. That said, I'm not really sure I'm all that confident it will happen.
  21. AKA #USF2B1G is imminent. You said what you said and I read it how I wanted to read it. I look forward to that B1G update from the USF Athletics account any day now and no amount of explaining what you said will change that Mike.
  22. Lifetime extensions for Goach and CAAR. They'll obviously be game as it's clear they love it here and have no greater aspirations to be at bigger programs.
  23. Hey, he's right. @Mike Stuben said #USF2B1G is happening any day now, I read it on the internet.
  24. F the Seminoles. CAAR is here to stay forever. FOREVER.
