Taggart dumbs down the playbook like he did for White vs Houston last year. Flowers does well enough to have us lose by only 3 or 4 points. Taggart starts Flowers the rest of the year and he plays like White did the the rest of his starts last year after Taggart assumes he now knows the whole play book. We go into next year with White & Flowers vying for the starting job and Bench is starting at La. Tech for Holtz (I'm kidding about that last part since Holtz recruited White, so maybe it will be White playing at La Tech).

White was a Taggart commit. :stirpot:

I don't see how Flowers can be ready to run this offense in his first year. Edited November 11, 2014 by LakelandBull

But.... Lots of Marlon Mack......

What better time to test drive Flowers? Bowl is HIGHLY unlikely, and if he really falters, we can bring in Bench or White...or Wilson [ducks to avoid flying chair] 2. We need a spark. If Flowers energizes the team, that may be the jolt we need. The younger players may rally around him and ball out. OL may take this challenge, too. 3. Let's not forget that Flowers played against some of the best HS team in the country. A co-worker of mine, who played HS football in Dade Co (then in college) told me Flowers is a baller, who may struggle early, but is a beast to be unleashed. He was grinning ear to ear when I told him Flowers is getting the nod. 4. Taggart is clearly desperate...but it's not silly to play your highest rated recruit now, to make sure you don't go out with a whimper. White & Bench got ample chances (ok, White did; Bench, not as sure). 5. Recruiting: right now, our recruiting class is decent, but somewhere around 2.7 stars, with no studs. If Flowers can somehow spark with team and add some punch to this putrid offense, that may be the needed catalyst to get the better kids, currently on the fence. So...there's always the emergency "eject' switch if Flowers wilts, but Taggart needs to be sure to give him ample time to settle in and get a feel for the game, or it'll likely be doomed to failure. I hate that it's come to this, as I was hoping White would throw for 2500+ yards, and we'd have a nice run game. But, we're here...**** the torpedos!!! But I'll knock on wood and hope for the best. CWT is definitely owning this game's results one way or another....either a brilliant risk or a foolish blunder depending on the results. Superhippy Posted November 11, 2014 Group: Member Topic Count: 9 Content Count: 315 Reputation: 41 Days Won: 3 Joined: 10/19/2013 Share Posted November 11, 2014 Taggart absolutely made the right move here. His goal this year was to make a bowl game. He gave both White and Bench plenty of opportunities and combined they led this team to the brink of being eliminated from bowl eligibility. Now coming off a bye week against the worst team in the country, Flowers has an opportunity to be eased into a rough situation, and then most likely be given a chance to win 2 consecutive games against solid teams to save the season. My prediction is that we see USF play Georgia Tech ball this week. 20 rushes from Mack. 15 rushes from Flowers. 10 for Johnson. 5 - 10 for everyone else. Flowers throws 10 - 15 passes. We most likely will play primarily 1 WR sets with Davis, because everyone else has dropped the ball every other time it's in their hands. SMU has given up atleast 220 rushing yards in every single game they have played this year. My only criticism of this move is that Taggart has shown a willingness to shuffle QB's in and out when they have played poorly, but for some reason he has left the same offensive linemen, tight ends, and wide receivers in that have struggled as well. He is pretty much sending the message to the team that they are losing because their QB's suck, when in reality there is alot more blame to go around. Even if he has to go deep into the depth chart he needs to give some more players an opportunity to show what they can go on game day, not just in practice.
