That being an AD at Southern Miss pays better than being an assistant AD at USF.

Seriously, though. I think the whole point of being an assistant AD is to eventually become athletic director. It probably wasn't going to happen for him at USF. I don't see Woolard leaving willingly any time in the near future, and if something were to happen where we would need to fire the athletic director, I'd think they'd probably want to get rid of him too and start fresh.

Just a clarification, Bill wasn't an Assistant AD at USF, he was the Executive Associate AD .... a title that was made for him (ie - we never had one of those before). Which was the #2 position in the department.

I would not assume this is a pay raise (it might be, but that is not clear cut).

Personally I don't know if it's good or bad, but reading other blogs on it, looks like the guy could have treated people in the AD better. But who cares at this point? The guy's gone, so I'm hoping we can get someone solid that can handle people and press.

He's been around since 2007, the last year we really factored in the national scene, so maybe he was just bad luck! Go Bulls!

There's a difference between dreaming and fantasizing ..... That's a full blown fantasize.

Many turn down promotions at other places if they are already at a real good place. College sports is different, but I would not leave my firm solely for a promotion. Especially, as in this case, a lower quality program/firm. But people do different things for different reasons.

That video must be the Athletic Department reaction to the news.

Can you please explain?  I had asked in the other thread if this was a good or bad thing.

Sure.

I have heard from more than a handful of those who work/worked in the Athletic Department that he was terrible to work for and the reason why there has been so much turnover there lately.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
