A conference is only as good as the teams in  the conference. So without a marquee team that travels in droves in non-P5 conference do you really think we are going to beat out P5 schools for bowl games?

 

Hopefully next time we are fortunate enough to have a bowl game against a P5 schools are fans can be motivated to actually get excited about the game. These things matter if we are going to build a bigtime program some folks believe we are entitled to have just b/c we play in Florida and can roll a few footballs on to the field.

Absolutely, this is a failure of the AAC.  I fully expected to have a bowl game matching the AAC champion against the SEC champion.  I can't believe the AAC couldn't get that done.

I actually don't think this would be such a bad thing. I just hope that the AAC is also able to supplement its other bowl offerings with matchups against teams from some of the Power 5 conferences as well.

Not excited about this. Hope it's not true. Rather play a "p5" team. No chance to make a name against anyone other than Boise and they'll be in an access bowl half the time. So now we'll be playing San Jose St, Utah St, or Hawaii. No thanks.

Hopefully at some point this could be a play-in game of some sort, like MLB does now.  Win the play-in game and you're in the playoffs.  AAC and MWC are the best non-P5 conferences moving forward, so if we can figure out some way to get ONE **** playoff spot for a non-P5  team, that could be a pretty big game.
