A conference is only as good as the teams in  the conference. So without a marquee team that travels in droves in non-P5 conference do you really think we are going to beat out P5 schools for bowl gam

I actually don't think this would be such a bad thing. I just hope that the AAC is also able to supplement its other bowl offerings with matchups against teams from some of the Power 5 conferences as well.

Hey...let's look on the bright side...I might get to trot out the old San Jose Spartans sweatshirt!

We 'understood' the absence of leverage probably about five minutes after the conference name was announced. 

Just because that's the situation, doesn't mean we will cease to rail on the subject. You been here long enough to know that.

What did anyone expect?  We are CUSA 2.0

 

The bowl games are going to be similar to that of CUSA not the Big East.  If we're (read AAC not USF) lucky we can snag the at large bid more often than the other leagues.

Hopefully at some point this could be a play-in game of some sort, like MLB does now.  Win the play-in game and you're in the playoffs.  AAC and MWC are the best non-P5 conferences moving forward, so if we can figure out some way to get ONE **** playoff spot for a non-P5  team, that could be a pretty big game.  

 

Agreed, this is what I was suggesting in my earlier post.  I'm aware the playoffs haven't begun yet but I was wondering whether this could ultimately be our playoff "play-in" game.  I guess the other option would be that it would go to the top-ranked teams in the MWC and AAC that is NOT chosen for the playoff.

What I'm hearing, from a pretty solid source.

Our champion (or best avail) will like play a New Years Day/New Years Eve game against the MWC champion.

No bowl mentioned, so I don't know if its an existing game or a new game.

 

Wow.

 

This is exactly what I wanted to see. I know most of you hate this, but I think this is the first step of the splitting of the "P5" from everyone else.
