So people trying to spin this horrible addition (if it happens) are saying that a team that draws no one now while winning is going to all the sudden start drawing huge crowds to watch mediocre Rutgers or Cuse football? Philly will not ever support college football. Temple was kicked out after they never drew any crowds. Look at the attendance here. 30k in a winning year in a football mad area. You are dreaming if you think Nova will draw large crowds and not drag down the view of the league.

This statement is pretty accurate.  Philadelphia is all about basketball when it comes to college sports.  You need to have lived there to understand.  Big Five basketball is king in Philadelphia.  Sure, the other Big East teams will out number 'Nova's fans at football games, but you'll only be talking about 15-20K at those games, maybe.  And what stadium will seat that many?  Temple gets the Linc.

PPL Park in Chester. It seats 18,500 and can be configured to 22,000. The Union are doing well attendancewise so there are already plans to expand it over 25k permanently. I have heard rumors that the Big East isn't thrilled with the idea of this small of a stadium so you have to wonder what their plans are long term but in the begining it will definately be in PPL. All the surveys sent out specifically mention only PPL as the home site.

Will Nova be the only FBS team that plays in an off-campus stadium with less than 50,000 seats?

they're not even the only ones in the big east with that setup. UConn is 30 minutes from their stadium that seats 40k.

Forgot about UConn.  Too bad this move wasn't thought about a couple years ago - the Union and Nova could have joined forces and built PPL Park (with 30 to 35K seats) where Nova's stadium is now.

Average attendance last year was ~9,000

Attendance will be a huge issue for years.

They're not playing home games against Big East teams yet. Once they get those their attendance will easily rise.

Yeah, USF's 300 traveling fans will make all the difference  ::)

That would be a game where I could see our traveling fan base have a better showing at. I'm pretty sure we have a decent alumni group in that area. bausfkid is up that way, so he may know more as to how many alumni are in that area.

That would be a game I would go to.

Come on, really?  You don't think that Pitt, Rutgers, WVU, and Louisville fans wouldn't make the trip to Philly?  Even 'Cuse, Cincy, and U Conn fans could make that trip fairly easily.  USF and TCU fans might be the only ones who don't...

The point is that having Pitt and Rutgers on the home schedule will do more than William & Mary or Towson.  Nova will sell out their small soccer stadium for just about every Big East game... and thus will not have a problem meeting the FBS attendance requirements.

That's too bad.  The Big East should have added UCF.  Perhaps then our athletic department would start demanding an on campus stadium in order to stay competitive with them in recruiting...both of players and students.

In case you haven't heard, RJS is an advantage in recruiting.  Several players like the idea of playing in an NFL stadium, especially one that has hosted several Super Bowls.
