The more I see, the more I like the hire of Coach Golesh

I obviously wasn't expecting the actual best DC in the nation but at least someone without an underwhelming reputation from previous stops who can't seem to keep a job...

The DC kinda killed my buzz.  I hope what everyone is saying makes sense, that we will roll the dice more and get more turnovers and maybe that will account for more scoring drives.

The Todd Orlando hire reminds me of Shoop a little bit. Lots of DC experience, some good some bad. But realistically about as good as you can get for a G5 team coming off some terrible DC seasons.

The USF DC job is probably looked at as career suicide right now. Getting a guy with 17 years of DC seasons and most have been good isn't a failure

Speaking of embellishment, after reading the tweet saying USF was blown away by his interview, I was expecting more out of his press conference. Not hiring the guy to be a public speaking wiz, but it certainly makes me skeptical of what we’ve been told/sold.

I was kind of happy that he didn't come off as a public relations wiz.  The last guy was a great PR dude, but it didn't translate into wins, and when things got bad, he looked clueless on the sidelines.  Kind of reminded me of Holtz.  Great public speaker, but when things got bad, he was deer-in-the-headlights.  I'm fine if this guy doesn't have that PR talent--as long as he can coach football and win games.  We'll see.

So do we give him the nickname ginger Leavitt or Russian Leavitt?

Clearly the only correct choice is 'Comrade Leavitt'

and

If our defense/d-line improves we call them The Gulag (or Bullag).  "On 3rd and 1, they ran it right up the middle for no gain, that 'RB' has been detained by the Gulag"  We'd clearly also always have to have a QB Spy.

Give me a few minutes and I'll think of more...and...I'm sorry

I think some of the reactions to this hire show troubling symptoms of bipolar disorder.

He isn't moving up the ladder due to being a slick salesman type...he has been moving up from from hard work and so I do prefer the coach that puts in long hours and is relentless than slick talker right now.

Have been referring to him as Chubby Sean McVay.

This is what is more important.

While I don't like the HC ad DC hires, whether I like the hires or not is irrelevant. I am more interested to see whether recruits and current players like the hires. It be interesting the see whether more of our best players decide to go into the transfer portal. If he can keep our main QF and RB that would be a good start. Also will be interesting to see what players he can bring in through the transfer portal from other programs. While next year will be tough; I expect a bowl game in year 2; anything else I will see as failure. We cannot afford a 3-5 year built with conference realignment.
