How about a coach that fits the context of a Jon Gruden type NFL career rather one that failed and went back after a cup of tea.

Herm Edwards probably the closest example. Could see Gruden going a similar way: seems like were starting to turn things around but breaks some trivial NCAA rules and it blows up in his face

My guess is this was a concerted effort by Gruden/his agent and his local media cronies to test the waters to see how the public would react to mentioning his name for a job opening.

Agreed.  What I suggested in another thread yesterday.

Sorry I missed it. A lot of posts to catch up on. Would love to see The Bullspen this lit up over something positive in the future. I hope every keeps this same "Big Post Energy" through the rest of this season and into the next!

So True.  We set page views and online member records for 2022 this week.  And many other Saturday NIGHTS/Sund mornings.  It turns out Bulls fans are more likely to engage in a public forum if they can demand someone be fired than for any other reason.

My only memory of Jon Gruden was him reading the player introductions for our 2007 USF/WVU game at RJS.

The rest I never paid attention to.

Yea a .500 coach from the NFL known to be bad with rookies and running a very complex west coast style offense is who some want?

His offense will fail here...he have to run something different to work here.

Just imagine the QB carousel alone - TBP would be pinning for the CJS days when we only rotated 4:roflmao:

Has there ever been a former NFL coach that has succeeded at the college level afterwards?

Are you kidding???   maybe a man named SABAN for one.  Lou Holtz for another

I’m sure that i could find one or two if I tried looking it up but there really isn’t a good reason to because this couldn’t be a less natural fit. His offensive style is a bad fit, there is no reason to believe he is a good recruiter and perhaps even worse than not being able to recruit well he isn’t even a good talent evaluator since his draft picks were always a thing of wonder then we add in he alienates people for no good reason and at best he offers a giant question mark with one single positive of buzz. It just makes no sense, so I’m sure we are signing him this week to a guaranteed 10 year deal.
