Typically it is. Don't think you can count people like Jim Harbaugh, Saban or Spurrier because they succeeded at college ball and then went to the NFL and came back. 

Jim Mora at UCLA and Herm Edwards at ASU had some limited success going from the NFL to NCAA.

Brian Battie's dad responding to someone saying Gruden's off the field stuff wouldn't matter. Sounds like it would absolutely rule us out for a lot of kids

There are a lot of people who want different things out of a football coach. I imagine most families that signed up for and believed in Jeff Scott are likely not to be the audience that would be fine with Jon Gruden. 

One is a really nice guy and one is maybe less so 😀

John Gruden is not college coach material. Couldn't even handle Chris Simms. Next!!! He would not be there to mold young men which is needed for a college coach.
