DISCLAIMER: I prefer going to the B12 over where we are now but ****, this has more and more the smell of the Big East saga down the line. I know it's stupid to dare to dream but just please please get the on the field stuff fixed, the IPF up and the football center funded (in combo with an ocs, whatever) and let's hope for real P5 conference interest.

I can't think of a more critical time to turn this ship around...

If AAC is adding teams in near future I still think that Appalachian State would be a good addition. They have name recognition. Play to a high level. Smaller stadium(but they have one) but it's nice and they pack it. Prob. have to plane ride to closer city then bus ride to the mountains, I don't think Boone airport can take large planes at least, not when I lived up there.

It's going to end up with the SEC and Big 10 consolidating the top 25-30 programs in the country. they will break off and form their own league.

Yeah I am fine with Appy State. They have a decent winning background. Yeah, don’t know how I would get there. Maybe hike up Mt. Mitchell and then turn east?

This will backfire if it happens.  It will ruin college football and alienate half the fans.  What are fans of the other 100+ fbs college teams gonna do?  Pick a team to follow from the big 25-30?  Sounds more like a mini pro league.  I’ve already got a pro football team in my life, thanks.  Part of the enjoyment of college football is the sliver of meaningless hope that all the teams are playing for the same championship—even if it is just a scam.  Creating an “exclusive” league will be a losing endeavor in the long run.

Unfortunately we’re already there. The moment the BCS was created, it started all of this; and we are watching the by products.

Yeah, we might be already down that road. I think the basketball model is the one to try to emulate.  March madness allows for all fans of all schools to be part of the championship quest.  This pre-season ranking crap with the same teams starting off in the top 15 year after year sucks.  Screw them. I’m a Bulls fan.

Ha!! bit of a walk from Mitchell but..it's good for you unless, it happens to kill you. They almost beat Miami last night looked good. They could do a clinic for our D on how to tackle..they put a smack on folks. The QB they inherited from Clemson is so-so. Miami won by 2pt at the end.

Yeah I watched that entire game. They had a third down drop in the end that could have kept them going for a game winning FG.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
