I used to watch most of the NBA playoffs and now watch none and I am not alone so things change. College football may be fine for now, this 4 team playoff may work well for them and they will continue to print money. My thought is the popularity has already peaked and will start to decline for a myriad of reasons, player safety, compensation, unpopular playoff format, balance of power etc... You make a good point. The West and especially NW comes to mind......unless Wash or Oregon gets back on power. The SW will always be facsinated with USC. However, if the playoffs expand to 8 teams, then it becomes a lot harder to keep the top G5 from having any access to the playoff. The result is almost always going to be a #8 G5 team having to play against the #1 team in the nation, but at least it creates access and the potential for an upset. Right now, there is not access whatsoever. Aresco is right, we were better off with the BCS, but the P5 knew that and that is how we got the system we are currently stuck with. Just catching up on the 'pen and sports so a little bit behind. Couldn't they just rank a team #9 like they did with Cinci?

Does anybody honestly see USF going all in on athletics to make USF more attractive to the P5? 3 hours ago, NewEnglandBull said: I don’t see it happening...it’s more than a long shot. But this not about USF. What I am arguing for is that the playoffs go to 8 teams with one spot going to the best G5 school. That is doable and not unreasonable. By going all in we're meaning........?????????

I would start with upgrading the marketing budget. A LOT! As is there are pitifully few that have any idea about USF sports at USF, much less throughout the Bay Area. With that I believe donations would increase to where we could actually build the IPF. Next I would seriously search for financing for an OCS. Set a date! Again, marketing. EVERY tv, radio, print, and social media should be hit with something USF every day. Hell, right now we don’t even use some of the FREE media available. I’m sure there’s more. And next up will be all the poor excuses not to, which is why I’m probably wasting my time even thinking about any of this.
