Unfortunately the two best teams are Bama and Clemson but it makes for a boring championship game for majority of college football fans.

They are however if they don’t expand and get some new blood the sport will continue to decline and become more regionalized, surprising they don’t get this.

Ratings were up last year for the semifinal games at least

Viewership rose for both College Football Playoff semifinals, with the Clemson-Ohio State thriller doing particularly well.

I was thinking of  the 2018 Clemson blowout over Bama in SF and ND got blown out in the semis.  Last year LSU replaced Bama and there was some intrigue.  I would be surprised if it was not down substantially this year, we shall see.

If it’s Bama vs Clemson I for one will not watch.

It might be, but that will be as much the year itself as regionalization of the sport.  Hopefully they expand the playoffs when the next TV deals come into play, but otherwise I don't think they care too much of a guy in Wesley Chapel, Fl or Frisco, TX or Vermont skip the game because they're still counting $$$$$ all the way to the bank

Nah.  The only region that College Football is not super popular is the NorthEast.  I dont see that ever changing.

It is not super popular on the West Coast or in the Northwest either.  I used to watch most of the NBA playoffs and now watch none and I am not alone so things change.  College football may be fine for now, this 4 team playoff may work well for them and they will continue to print money.  My thought is the popularity has already peaked and will start to decline for a myriad of reasons, player safety, compensation, unpopular playoff format, balance of power etc...
