Mr. Flahault lauded Sweden’s government for that part of its approach. “The Swedes went into self-lockdown,” he said. “They trusted in their people to self-apply social distancing measures without punishing them.” Too many Americans are self centered and selfish, coupled with a leadership that has refused to this day to take this thing seriously, that way was never going to work here. I dont know if you knew this, but people are more likely to agree and work with you when you dont force your ways onto them.

You mean like the time Florida bars were given that chance to do it on their own and failed miserably ... Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, explained the same day that the move was being made because too many bars had knowingly violated social distancing and capacity guidelines related to coronavirus. “When people follow the guidelines we've not had any problems. You’ve not had any issues,” said DeSantis. “The reason why DVPR took this [action] is because you had people not following it. There’s been widespread noncompliance.”

Sweeden didnt close anything or have a mask mandate, and have a much lower infection rate and less people dead from it on a per population basis. I'm sure you'll be like "oh Sweeden is less populated" well Stockholm is more densely populated and more total population then the Tampa Bay area. There are also examples in America that didnt shut down, and it seems to have no correlation to infection rates unless you watch CNN and they nit pick data for you. Bull ****, Sweden has one of the highest death rates per capita in the world and they are starting to shut down. After Months of Minimal COVID-19 Containment, Sweden Appears to Be Considering a New Approach Swedish authorities appear to be reconsidering their notoriously lax approach to COVID-19 containment, which has contributed to one of the world’s higher... I know you won't give a straight yes or no answer, but if it was proven to reduce the amount of cases, would you support a complete house lockdown for 3 months where NOBODY is allowed to leave their house? And for the record, my job has me go to plenty of people's houses daily and I wear a mask in their homes no questions asked, so get off your moral high ground. You're not better than anybody for having a political stance, which this is 100% political. If you're debating allowed behavior for people it is political. I wouldn't expect a grandstander to know that. Edited October 24, 2020 by WhoRUSF

It all depends on the situation...unfortunately both political parties have politicized this...both have been right at times...both have been wrong at times..there is a middle ground here that is the best approach...in regards to the original poster, his point of wearing a mask when there is nobody within 50 ft of him is fine...nothing wrong with that...now (and he said this) he was fine wearing a mask at other times...middle ground... He was looking for a reason to not attend another one of these disasters and he found one, and I for one don’t blame him. Wear a mask, don’t wear a mask, I don’t effin care. I am not sure how effective they are but if the business I visit says to wear one than I wear one, if I don’t feel like wearing one then I don’t do business there.
