Exactly how many viruses have disappeared by people staying away from the each other for any period of time? Did the virus just magically manifest itself in humans? If it wasn’t created in the human body then what on earth makes you think that if people didn’t get near each other for 1000 years would make humans any less susceptible to it once they returned from your idealistic pipe dream with absolutely no grounding in reality?

Italy is a lot closer to NYC in terms of population density than the rest of the US and they also have a rather older population (still the only group with anything resembling a high risk of this virus) when your hospitals are trending towards over run it is time to examine strengthening your mitigation but when they are trending towards empty it is time to consider what mitigation makes sense for that area long term.

Would it make you feel better if we stopped making jokes about the Tide pods and bleach and just focused on the key point? The president asked an infectious disease expert if she had ever considered trying to use medicine to get rid of the virus.

It’s really no less absurd then the current widely held belief that social distancing can make the virus go away or if people break social distancing that makes the measure needed for longer. I am going to teach a remedial class on graph reading.
