I watch a **** ton of games in the AAC. About four a week. We are in the bottom third of the conference in terms of talent. Especially at key positions.

Let’s pretend that’s true would that put us somewhere around 70th like Gilbert has us and not somewhere around 110th where KB likes to hover?

I know watching our offense presently is like watching a train wreck, however I haven't given up on the thought that Kerwin Bell can correct this hot pile of garbage if given the keys to the car. Will Mike Kelly or anyone else agree with me? Highly unlikely. However his track record time after time proves he can turn things around and has won at every level. Here is an article from when he was not renewed at Jacksonville University. Typically you're not renewed because you are a dead man walking and the administration lacks the balls to fire you even though you're incompetent on your best days and an albatross on your worst (see Charlie Strong presently). In this case, Bell was not renewed because he "wanted more for the program". For the most part, the guy won... and won consistently. I believe he had one down season - but we all very well know that can correspond with QB turnover as a football program is only as good as the QB at the helm. Anyways, throwing my two cents out there.

If I had a second choice - I'd take Jeff Monkin from West Point. He's the type of coach that gets everything out of his players (and he beat UF while coaching at Georgia Southern). That's a victory that would make a coach a legend at USF. West Point is down presently, but they would still steamroll our program this year (which kills me to say it). What is Mike Kelly waiting for? Give Bell the keys and let him right this ship. It's pretty bad presently and apathy is setting in quickly - literally fell asleep in the second quarter last night.

Your post and that article sold me.

Bell also seems like someone who likely wouldn't leave for another job, except perhaps UF, which looks like it is wrapped in an early dynasty and won't likely be available for a long time.

I think Sheriff is onto something. Even if not, one thing is certain: Bell won't be worse than Strong.

With Mathis being out I can see why the two te set wasn't ran...not continuning to run quick passing routes though was beyond me...we have some olineman that I am surprised have scholarships...

Are the tight ends besides Wilcox and Mathis really that bad, that we can't even continue running the scheme that has been working without them?

Great question...I asked myself that a few times during the last game...

I don’t know about the AAC but I don’t know that the AAC is known for its defensive power houses. KB was supposed to do better than Gilbert; to date with mostly the same talent returning and a similar enough schedule he has done 50 percent worse and there is really nothing that anyone can say that excuses those facts away. The biggest change that can be pointed to between the decline from last year to this is the change in coordinators and philosophy and despite what some may have you believe it’s strikingly damning of KB.

Either there is a huge talent drop off, or the guys behind them aren't getting developed the way they need to. Neither scenario is good.

We see a similar situation at QB, with KB's unwillingness to put Rygol in. Even when McCloud is performing abysmally, he refuses to put him in, or he does it so late that it's irrelevant.

Maybe it's just growing pains, but I can't help but feel it's a trend. Pretty concerning that he feels the backups at these positions are apparently so bad, that he has to modify the scheme away from what has been working, only for it to not work anyways, AND then the backups don't get work in the scheme that has shown success.

Every college team loses players, the cold hard facts are when it comes to returning offensive production we lost the 11th least
