UCF coach supposedly wanted a 2 year deal....

He signed a 5 year deal, but I don't think it matters.  Like it has been said a million times, the AAC is a stepping stone unless we start dropping 4-5 mil a year on coaches.

I see what youre saying, but wanting out is not the same as having a better opportunity, which SCAR 100% is. Any of those coaches, with the exception of maybe Richt at Miami now, would jump ship to SCAR if given the chance.

It is just the doubt that will be placed in the kids heads, recruiting is a cut throat business.

Or, he interviews and tells recruits "Of course I'm here forever. Hell I turned down the SEC." ;-)

Never be the guy to fill Steve Spurrier's shoes. See Zook, Ronald.

True.  And if you think our fan base can turn on a coach when things don't go well, look at how it works with the big boy teams where money ain't a thang.

I don't know how to do the facepalm graphic.

People posting in this thread should identify if they've either 1- interviewed for another job but returned to their existing job or 2- networked with an eye to possibly jumping to a new job only to stay put. Pretty sure most people do this at various points in their career. I've never done the former but have done the latter on occasion.

It's always good to know your value in the marketplace.  I've done similar things before and I have always encouraged people on my team to do the same.  I look at it as a reflection on me if my people are getting promotions.

Yeah, but so is coaching and winning games. I am not disagreeing with your premise about doubt in the recruit's heads and such, but I just dont see why that would stop him from interviewing at SCAR. Everyone saw this coming. You think if we win 10 games next year (pls lawd) that he isnt going to do more interviews?

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
