Flowers does miss open receivers..the play Adams gets a late hit he had a player wide open in the middle of field.  If he can get that fixed Flowers will be fine.

All qb's miss open receivers. He, like all qb's, will never hit 100% of them so I'm not sure it's something that can be fixed. Just checked out gimli's vid and QF made some **** good throws to go with the misses. Bottom line is that he needs to complete enough for the team to win and he did that Saturday ...... and I know it's been mentioned about the receivers but watching it again, I didn't see one pass that should have been caught that wasn't. That was encouraging ..... just hope the growing continues at UConn and beyond.

I think that was more about giving Q his game. He earned a game ball for his work, and pulling him might have sent the wrong message.

My thinking was for two reasons.

First as you mentioned, give QF and the other players as much practice as possible.  Especially before the rest of our conference games, and definitely against a good team.  Something that cannot be replicated in practice.  Boost up the their confidence as much as possible

Second, prove a point... boost the teams morale and give something for fans and non-fans.  The team has been through such a low point.  Beat a known, good team as much as possible.  When trying to sway back fans who aren't at the game.. seeing a score in the news of 45 - 24 is much better than 38 - 31.  People who just see the score afterwards can't say "oh it was a close game, must have been some last minute lucky play." Instead it will look like a beat down.  Try to show that the team has (hopefully) turned the corner.

To the first point, I didn't mean the whole Quarter, just that last drive maybe the one before it. They were carting the Orange off like a processing plant. We were not up against their best and risk of Injury > than practice. They have all week for that.

To the 2nd point, maybe but as I said 7min left and we all knew the game was pretty much sealed, and at the last drive what was it the 4 min mark? (sorry I have yet to re watch it ) There was clearly no hope and we were running down the clock. The 2nd part of your point I can see. Hammer it down but I think bench could have also managed running out the game, didn't have to let him prove it like he was there to take the job.

Anyways not a major gripe, I just thought it wise to protect the spark we have. Thankfully it worked out well. Now to prove it wasn't a one hit wonder and take care of Uconn, then SMU.

Quinton Flowers is starting to remind me of a young Peyton Manning.

In the 4th when the game was locked I am surprised that we didn't see some bench. I would have hated for any of our 1's to come away with a late injury.

We can't afford with any lead to put Bench in to throw to the other team. We might as well punt. Like somone else stated awhile back, he's had how many years and two teams to become a starter? He doen't fit this system right now. Good luck to him.

Notwithstanding the playcalling differences, I think what we saw in the Syracuse game was not a marked improvement from Flowers, but from the receivers. Flowers didn't look all that different to me... he's gonna miss some throws at this stage in his development, so it's incredibly important that the receivers haul in the good ones. The last game was the first time they've done that all year. I believe we would have won the Maryland game - and maybe even others - if the receivers played then the way they played against Syracuse. It's a team game folks.

I have always been on the QF side of things. I was not saying that we should put him in as a starter but when the game is on lock we need to protect our starter and make sure our backup is serviceable. Also I would not say to call pass, pass pass, just run what we have seen so well run run pass and hopefully he picks up a first down. Even if we punt it our defense was playing well and there would not have been time for another TD by the orange. Maybe I was misunderstood. I was not talking about the 4th quarter just the final drive or two we had.

Mostly agree, EXCEPT, I think Flowers, because of his lack of experience, needs all the reps he can get. If he were a seasoned vet, yes, give the back-up some snaps.
