Football Tix Renewal?

I actually am looking at this from multiple ends. 1) I have been grandfathered into my section for a long time now. 2) However, I have chosen to give at a level higher than the required donation for that section for awhile now. It was nice to know I could have reduced it to the grandfathered rate but I understand the change. 3)Having said all that with the seat donation and figuring in a very generous 20% alumni discount - the whole thing costs me thousands less than what I currently pay.

I went back to last year's seating and donation chart and I would thing most are paying less. Hopefully we see a nice spike in ticket sales as a result of the new program.

 

I have no problem with the new system but I do have a problem with them dropping a > 50% increase on fans who have purchased multiple tickets (in my case 8) since day 1 for football.  I have not decided if I will renew or not and I KNOW USF will not have people in line waiting to scoop up my tickets (which equates to $0 and 8 empty seats). 

 

I know the last few years my section has been near empty so don't talk about market value to me!!  There were many times I tried to sell my tickets outside the stadium and was offered $5 per.  I would rather not have someone in front of me.  I also tried to give tickets away the week before the game and no one cared to go.

From all my years working in the business I can tell you that they can't run two systems at the same time. The new system treats everyone equally (well, except for the discounts given to alumni and staff). It also proves a discount to most fans.

 

It solves two problems, the massive amount of record keeping to track where everyone was grandfathered in at and exactly what that grandfathering covers. (if you don't believe me, I could give you a couple examples of the sort of things we had to track and remember) and it removes all the exceptions and specials deals that allowed people to play different levels of donations (not a grandfathering, but special ticket deals that were extended over the years).

 

Let me give an extreme example, someone could have followed the rules to the letter, and have 9 seats in section 110 with a $250 annual donation. While those fans may be loyal, it may not be in the best interest of USF to allow them to keep them forever.

 

For what it is worth, I will give my full endorsement of the new system. For those who don't know, I spent 16 years selling season tickets for USF. This way is better for almost everyone, and is certainly more fair.

Second, it sounds like you're in one of the Yellow CA sections and if so, if you give up those tickets, they may generate a ton more interest than you think. For just a donation of $800, some one can get 2 of them and have seats between the 45's and Club access.

That is a pretty good hike but hopefully this is what's best for most season tix holders and the program overall.

can't remember the per game ticket cost(I believe 209 is same per ticket as 236) but my donation is $2000 to sit in a less desirable section. I've been at the scholar bull level for at least 5 years. For a few before that I was green jacket. I have steadily increased my donation as I have been able to over the years.

 

There is absolutely no reason why you deserve to sit in a better section now as I donate more money. This system makes way more sense and will allow equitable allocation to tickets.

Having now been to the website there is one thing that seems to not make sense so maybe I'm reading it wrong. When it comes to ticket priority it says they look at the 2015-2016 giving level first and then Priority Points. Well that makes Priority Points virtually mute (not that they held much value). Let's say I was at the Green Jacket level (I'm not but for this illustration). Let's say I have given at that level for 10 consecutive years. Now this year someone who is in their 2nd year of giving gives $2000. They now have priority over me?? I have to be reading it wrong because I thought if nothing else did priority points recognized lifetime loyalty?? Clarification please.

Is anyone else upset with the new pricing model?

 

It seems like the "grandfathered donations" have been pushed out the window and they are charging on a per ticket basis now (and thus essentially telling the faithful donors that their years of donating mean nothing).

 

Has anyone else had a massive increase in prices?  I believe my 8 tickets cost me $3200 last year (with donation) and now I have to pay $5000 to get the same seats (with 1 less parking pass).

Speaking to a ticket rep.  He mentioned that most people would probably see a decrease.

The ones seeing an increase wold be those with a lot of seats (8 seats) or those who were very old time ticket holders who have been grandfathered in to a high level doner seat

 

It's a no win. 

You complain that grandfathered people being pushed out represents USF not caring.

But in the past even some posters here have complained that its not fair that people are grandfathered in.  Why should people pay far less (some cases thousands) just because, for example, they are older and were able to but tickets when the potential buyer was a kid at the time.

 

 

It is something called loyalty!!  It reminds me of the Bucs back in the day and getting greedy and look at their fanbase.

 

If new fans feel slighted, lower the donation but don't screw your loyal fans!!

programs don't run on loyalty. they run on cold hard cash.

 

there is no way you can build a fanbase or a program by grandfathering in donation levels over the long haul. it's a disincentive for younger fans and alumni. why should they have to pay more for less? not only that but it would bleed a program dry,.

 

A buddy of mine is a Kansas Basketball ticket holder. He said they did something similar years ago. All the oldtimers were pissed because those center court seats that they were paying a $100 donation for were now going to require a $5,000 donation even though they had held them (and in many cases passed them down to a relative) for years.

 

USF wants nothing more than market value for their tickets and in the long run this system will allow it.

 

I'm relatively young and have had season tickets for a long time. I've upgraded my donation level 3 times.  This new system will allow me to upgrade my seats for no increase in donation.

 

I consider this a generous gift for not only my loyalty but my increased donations along the way. BTW it was great when they reseated the sundome to allow for higher level donors to get premium seats then as well.

 

Funny to see Kansas basketball and USF in the same sentence.  I guarantee you that if those people in Kansas didn't renew, there would be 10 people in line to buy those tickets. 

 

I have no problem paying more for a better product but I have been following USF for too long and keep hearing the same song and dance (we need more money to compete, we are going to put a better product on the field, etc).

 

Market value for USF tickets is about 20% of their printed value!!!

Kansas basketball is successful. Maybe if we want to eventually find success we should copy those that are already there. The old sundome ticket distribution was a joke. you had 80 year olds who never showed up to games paying $100 donation for premium center court seats while a young alum like myself couldn't get on the first floor with a $2k donation.

 

and yes market value for a section (even the one you sat in ) is higher than you think if you are grandfathered in because there are people like me who can now upgrade my section and even save money in the process if I wanted to. What you don't realize is that there are people who sit in worse sections that actually pay more than you.
