I actually am looking at this from multiple ends. 1) I have been grandfathered into my section for a long time now. 2) However, I have chosen to give at a level higher than the required donation for that section for awhile now. It was nice to know I could have reduced it to the grandfathered rate but I understand the change. 3)Having said all that with the seat donation and figuring in a very generous 20% alumni discount - the whole thing costs me thousands less than what I currently pay.

I went back to last year's seating and donation chart and I would thing most are paying less. Hopefully we see a nice spike in ticket sales as a result of the new program.

I have no problem with the new system but I do have a problem with them dropping a > 50% increase on fans who have purchased multiple tickets (in my case 8) since day 1 for football.  I have not decided if I will renew or not and I KNOW USF will not have people in line waiting to scoop up my tickets (which equates to $0 and 8 empty seats).

I know the last few years my section has been near empty so don't talk about market value to me!!  There were many times I tried to sell my tickets outside the stadium and was offered $5 per.  I would rather not have someone in front of me.  I also tried to give tickets away the week before the game and no one cared to go.

I would feel MUCH better about an increase IF the product on the field has improved (which I feel it has not).  The last thing I remember is a shutout to our biggest rival!!

Thx

First, I'd go back and double check your figures to make sure that > 50% increase is entirely accurate. Second, it sounds like you're in one of the Yellow CA sections and if so, if you give up those tickets, they may generate a ton more interest than you think. For just a donation of $800, some one can get 2 of them and have seats between the 45's and Club access.

Lastly, if you're wondering why they're doing this, go to the chart on page 6-7 of this brochure: http://d81ldo19jx3e0.cloudfront.net/usf/bullschampionshipseating/assets/img/BC-Guide.pdf

He's right.  I had 8 seats in 236 that cost me around $3400 a season ($1000 Green Jacket donation included).  Those 8 seats are now $5200 under the new program.

can't remember the per game ticket cost(I believe 209 is same per ticket as 236) but my donation is $2000 to sit in a less desirable section. I've been at the scholar bull level for at least 5 years. For a few before that I was green jacket. I have steadily increased my donation as I have been able to over the years.

There is absolutely no reason why you deserve to sit in a better section now as I donate more money. This system makes way more sense and will allow equitable allocation to tickets.

You sound like the guy who's pissed off at his next door neighbor.  He pays less property tax for a bigger house because he had the intelligence (and money) to move into the neighborhood 10 years before you.

you sound like the grumpy old man not willing to pay his fair share.

he didn't have the intelligence to move into the neighborhood before me. he was simply older than me. that's it.

I contribute more than him. I shoul;d receive greaer benefits.

He can continue to give his $100 per year and sit in another section. I have no problem with that.

I'm not new here as I read WAY more than I post(as you can see from my post count).   I do enjoy this site.  I am however totally upset(for lack of a better word) with the new scheme.  I am a herd level donor that has been with the team from day one.  I have attended almost every home football game.  I purchase two tickets and do not have club access.  Regarding the club access, for me personally, I don't need or want it.  Last season, I paid $835(seats and donation).  For 2015, the bill will be $1215 for the same seats.  That is for section 236, like I said, day one ticket holder.  The price increase for 2015 is beyond obscene.  Perhaps, if we were coming off a better season, with a consistently better product, then my opinion would likely be different.  Unfortunately, the timing of this new strategy is very likely to push me out of the USF football season ticket model.

I understand that this is tough for those grandfathered in but the bottom line is that there is no price increase. You've just been getting one helluva discount for a long long time. What some people in that same section paid for 2 tix last year would have been around either $4000 or $5500, where you paid $835..... and you've got to be kidding about this new strategy pushing you out of the USF football season ticket model?? If it's a financial thing, you can move just one section over to 237 and get 2 tix for $100 LESS (if you're an alumnus) than what you paid last year, with Club access.

exactly.

they have been getting a huge discount for years. just because they are now asked to pay what others have been paying in the same section doesn't mean it's a huge increase.

Nah, he just a soshalist.

I'm a socialist because I want the grandfathered ticket holders to pay as mucgh as everybody else?

you may want to get a dictionary. I actually think they should have to pay fair market value (i.e. free market prices). the exact opposite of socialism.

Not quite sure how you can state that there is not a price increase, and of course this is a financial decision.  I'm not concerned with other more current "deals" that people signed to get their tickets either.  One of the commenters on this thread is the same guy who sold me the line of crap of buying into the donation level and guaranteeing my seat in the future.  And again, I am not interested in Club (no one is in there anyway and you can't cheer on the team in there).  I also am not interested in moving "...just one section over..." to 237.  I'm not quite sure what USF is thinking in pricing themselves with this model.  You don't screw with your long term supporters when the stadium is empty, and has been for a long time.  Looking at our top competition, last years conference leaders in the AAC, you can see these links to show where we stand with the pack for similar seating.

I didn't say I wouldn't be open to an increase, just not in today's market of supply and demand.

You are right about priority points becoming pretty meaningless. I am near the top of the priority point list, which used to mean lot 5 parking. Shame for me, but I understand why they did it. hopefully the winds will change down the road and it will carry value again. (for my selfish reasons) ..... but, I have no ground to complain, just have to deal.

I've been crazy busy and haven't had time to long on to the site.  Probably won't have a chance until Thursday at the earliest.  Priority points won't mean anything for parking lots???  WTF???

The Points will matter when they get to your donor level but all the levels higher than yours will get to choose a lot first. The levels are:

$50K  Legacy

$25K  Champion

$10K  Victor

$ 5K   Gold

$3.5K Silver

$2K    Bronze

$1k    Green Bull

$500  Stampede

$100  Herd

Parking Map

Can't believe how small the RV lot is - that's obscene!

Is it because they don't allow anyone in the day before the game or to stay the night after the game?

For you there is a price increase. However, for people not grandfathered into your donation levels there is a price decrease.  I sit in 136 and there was a significant decrease in my 4 tickets because the donation level needed for those seats has gone down.  And I'm not a johnny-come-lately to those seats as I've had them for 8 years.

One of the issues they had to address was that the sections on the east and west sides carried significant donation requirements before you could even buy tickets.  They have removed that hurdle by tying the donation to the ticket itself.  The reality is that some will have price increases but they must have determined most would not.

I definitely understand your frustration, HOWEVER if we were coming off a couple 9 or 10 win seasons, many people would be saying that " USF is a bunch of jerks for doing this & they are only doing so because we've been better but I stuck with the team when they had 3 and 4 wins & now they are trying to screw me"  Its a no win situation however what is a win is the long term effect this will have on revenue and the athletic dept.  The "grandfathered" people are the only ones going to be frustrated and frankly there isn't that many to be concerned about.   Though we all should appreciate those than have been there since day 1 and have attended every single home game unfortunately those $100 donations aren't going to pay the bills & that's the bottom line!

Just buy tickets on stubhub or outside the stadium. I have been to almost every game since 2004 (was a student from 04-07) and don't think I have even spent $800 total.

we need more fans like you.....

you know the kind that freeload off the actual donors who support this program and then ***** and moan when we can't build a successful program in large part due to money constraints.

So I'm one of the "Since-Day-1-Grandfathers.  To be honest, I used to feel a little guilty during the heydays about only donating $100 to be in 113 when others had to pay $1,000, and I always told myself (and everyone grandfathered should have told themselves) that it would not last forever.  Like someone said earlier, If you want to complain about the team not meeting your expecations lately, then be glad they're doing it when the team is down and you don't feel "compelled" to renew - totally your choice.

It's funny because I recently got a nice promotion at work and was planning to go to Green Jacket level this year before this news hit.  I thought I'd be able to slide over to 112 and only have to pay $600 (4X$150) in donations to get the club access.  But now reading the fine print in the parking section, I will still need to pay another $400 to be able to purchase a second parking pass (well $495 if you include the $15 per game cost as well).  But again, this hopefully will get me an upgrade into Lot 5.  I've been in Lot 7 forever, but it looks like that lot has moved to daily cash parking.

By the way, looks like no more Green Jacket - it's called Green Bull now so take good care of the green jackets if you got one.
