But I also hope the whole team does well. Our wide receivers need to catch the ball. Our defense needs to step up and play like they know how to play. One man does not win a game. I expect he'll be serviceable at best with an outside chance of completing 50% of his passes. Of course I would rather be wrong and have USF win with Bench than the alternative. Don't think anyone believes Bench is much better. It is obvious that the competition has been close. This is only Bench's 3rd start and, even with this one, he didn't get the number of reps in practice that White has received for his starts (because of the competition aspect). Would like to see him start this game and then the rest of the season with getting the normal 90% reps in practice. That would probably give us a more fair comparison to White going into next season. This is probably right. CWT had several games this year where it made sense to pull White and did not. Personally I don't think Bench has been given a fair shake, and I would like to see him get first team snaps all week in prep for a game. Like I have said in the past, from what I have seen from Bench, if he plays within himself, he can help us win games. It appears he lacks maturity though and becomes overconfident when things are going well. This has lead to some bad decisions...

And last season the OL really was terrible and never gave both White or Bench a chance in the pocket. Now, the OL is better this season so I hope that makes the difference for Bench. What I like about Bench better than White is that he can scramble for a few yards when needed in short yard situations. White just cant move out there. And when he does he has the whole defense trying to strip that ball from him because the scouting report on White is that he is fumble prone. Give USF a QB that can move around and creat openings even with less accuracy and it may give USF a fighting change. Grothe was not the most accurate QB but he did give defenses fit with his running ability.
