The receivers sucked too. It was a team effort.

Hilarious he's blaming the RB's !

"....I don’t think Steven did anything to lose the game,’’ Taggart said. “I thought he did some good things, but we didn’t play well overall. I don’t care who is at quarterback if we can run the football. Our backs have got to do a better job."

Holy helpless batman!!!!!!!

It's on the blocking, not the running.

The backs can't block for themselves - that's on the o-line. Any yards Mack got were on his own talent.

Pass blocking by the backs is another story, as GBS notes, but throwing them under the bus for not running is WACK!

It is becoming abundantly clear that this mess is just not on the QBs or any one position.  You can probably point to the defense not getting off the field hurting as much as anything.  The play fine on 1st and 2nd down.  Not sure what happens after that but it doesn't usually work out well for us.

I must say though that there were 2 times that I can remember when we had the ball when I thought "well this drive is done" but we got 1st downs.  One was a 3rd and 17 and the other was a 2nd and 18.  We actually got first downs those two times. I can't remember us doing that too often in the past couple of years.

Defense has been awful.

I read where they have 5 halves of football this year where they have given up over 300 yards. that's pathetic. they play soft. no blitzing. off the receiver. the coach is afraid to put any pressure in the backfield. he acts like tom brady is back there and will burn us if we try to blitz.

that being said, the offense is a travesty in large part due to our situation at QB.none are worthy of playing at this level.

Although QB position isn't performing the way we want, there are just too many things that the offense does wrong on the whole that you can't blame the one position.  White played a great second half vs. Tulsa, yesterday Bench only made 1 bad decision while out there.  Made a few bad throws but made some nice ones.  Seemed to lead the RBs coming out of the backfield better than White.

But I'm looking for backs and receivers to break tackles.  Offensive linemen to hold blocks. TEs to catch the ball.  This is a team problem not just a QB problem.   I don't think many other QBs in our conference would make a huge difference if they were at USF.  That kid from Houston yesterday?  Uconn?  Maybe ECU's guy or Memphis would have made a difference in one game this year.

I guarantee if we had Trickett or Brissett we would have a much better offense. I agree the line needs to do a better job and yes the receivers need to catch the few drops they have but do you honestly believe that offense would score enough to win even if they did that?

we have QBs that can't complete better than  50% of their passes. sure a few are dropped but every team has dropped balls. Trickett completes 68% of his passes. Bench is at 47% and White is at 48%. you can't blame that difference on drops.

I don't think these players like playing in this system.

We did not run the ball well, but I think that is more the line and the terribly predictable offensive play calling.

Well done CWT, you started Bench and gave him a crappy game plan setup to fail miserably.

At least the critics, myself included, will be silenced now for wanting Bench start in the future.

If Whites hand is OK moving forward I think we've seen the last of Bench.

+1

QFT!

It's alive....it's alive....

How about we let Bench get all the first team reps, he wins the game against UCF and we cement what a dumb ass CWT is :)

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
